Arsenic in the tooth

The transformation of a tooth from an ordinary bone into a living organism occurs due to a tooth nerve or pulp. Because of it, the tooth gains sensitivity and reacts to internal and external stimuli. Therefore, the removal of pulp is an operation, and they are performed with good reason, confirmed by medical indications. And only in those cases when the nerve cannot be saved in any way.

Caries is one of the main causes of the inflammatory process in the pulp, which leads to its removal. Therefore, it is so important not to start this disease and take its prevention seriously. Inflammation begins to move from hard tissue (dentin) to softer (pulp), causing swelling of the tooth tissue. Which, in turn, causes pain due to compression of nerve tissue. This disease is called pulpitis. It requires early treatment, so that even at the initial stage, it is possible to save both the nerve and the tooth.

If it is still not possible to save the nerve, the process of its removal is carried out - depulpation. Not so long ago, this operation was painful and was associated only with the most unpleasant sensations. Because dentists knew how to kill a nerve in a tooth, but it was not possible to anesthetize the whole process.

Nowadays, depulping occurs using modern techniques and the latest equipment. Treatment begins with a cleansing of the oral cavity and teeth from food debris, and then anesthesia is applied. After the onset of its action, the tooth cavity is cleaned of carious formations. Then the nerve is opened and in most cases killed with arsenic. Arsenic in the tooth also kills the nerve endings, and not just the pulp tissue, so the pain subsides quickly enough.

A dental treatment that uses arsenic in a tooth or another toxic substance that causes mummification and necrosis of pulp tissue is called deviation.

After arsenic has been placed in the tooth, a temporary filling is placed on top. Such a seal is installed for a short period of time, for about a few days for the purpose of diagnosis or for medicinal purposes. For example, when the dentist does not know whether the nerve is completely affected, or if there can be more than one nerve in the tooth, but several, then such a filling is established. If for some time the toothache has returned, then additional research and treatment is necessary.

Also, a temporary filling is used when it is necessary to close some medicine, which after a while needs to be removed from the tooth. Most often, a temporary filling with arsenic is established together, which is placed in the tooth for a short time to kill the nerve. For information, a temporary seal, this is not one that should fall off by itself after some time, but one that the dentist can easily and simply remove.

If no unpleasant changes have occurred while the arsenic was in the tooth, the temporary filling is removed, and the pulp is removed painlessly. And further processing and main filling of the tooth will also take place without pain.

The arsenic used in dentistry is gradually losing ground, although not so negatively affects the body during treatment. Unfortunately, arsenic negatively affects dentin, which in turn leads to its gradual destruction. Therefore, in modern dentistry, a different method is widely used - they immediately apply anesthesia and remove the pulp. Arsenic is used only in cases of allergic reactions or intolerance to local anesthesia.

The use of arsenic is especially contraindicated in pediatric dentistry, due to the inability to calculate the amount of toxin that can kill a nerve and not harm a child.
