What is a campaign?

What is a campaign? We often find this word used on the pages of newspapers and magazines, Internet portals and TV screens. But, interestingly, this term is always used in different contexts. And sometimes it’s not so easy to figure out what it really means. It turns out that the campaign is one of the multi-terms that contains several concepts at once. And they can relate to the most diverse spheres of social, political, cultural and economic life. At the same time, perhaps, we can distinguish

some common features of these concepts, called one word, and give a general definition: a campaign is a set of interrelated actions aimed at achieving a specific result. Now we will see this.

Information campaign

For example, this event implies a set of measures to agitate the population (or other community of people) in order to convey the necessary knowledge to it or to inspire the public with any opinion. Such a set of measures can be advertising that promotes a certain product on the market. Of course, it is not at all limited to simple videos or street posters urging the consumer to buy this particular cookie or washing powder. No, an advertising campaign is a carefully developed marketing strategy, in the course of which the preferences of the consumer, the features of his behavior, the characteristics of the national market and the legislative system in the country are clarified. Pre-processing of the so-called target groups is carried out (in fact, those for which advertisers are counting on demand). However, a campaign is not always a pursuit of purely commercial goals. Information activity can also be from the state in the form of, for example, social advertising, which is

election campaign
a sign of state concern about the growth of welfare, well-being of the people, national health, clean streets and so on. The election campaign is a kind of synthesis of the state and the public, where several political forces hold a time-limited conviction of the general public that they are worthy to take places in the state administration apparatus, and it is their program that will ensure the most effective achievement of the interests of the state and the population.

Hostilities

Of course, you could not help but come across such concepts as the “Chechen campaign” or the “Napoleonic campaign”. Indeed, this concept is often used in relation to military actions. Here, it also implies a complex of certain consistent and interrelated measures, however, they are no longer aimed at propaganda influence on the population, but at achieving superiority over the enemy army. This is achieved by occupying profitable territories, physically destroying enemy forces, and so on.

Other definitions

Moreover, the campaign is also not always associated with certain actions of people. So, Campania is a region in Italy and a small asteroid located in the solar system beyond Mars. The same name has the period of operation of a nuclear reactor, which it provides after a single load of nuclear fuel.
