For several months now, the entire world community, with bated breath, has been monitoring the situation in Ukraine. Mass public rallies, the confrontation of the people and state power, riots and shooting, the president’s flight and many other events worry not only the inhabitants of the hospitable country, but also other states. On one of the turbulent days of the rally on Maidan in Kiev, ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko spoke in front of the assembled angry crowd. Many citizens were slightly shocked: how was this woman free if she was imprisoned? Nevertheless, an ardent oppositionist left the prison and even took part in the struggle for her people. He, in turn, began to frantically recall what Yulia Tymoshenko was imprisoned for.
Way to Government
The biography of this woman began in 1960. It was then that in Dnepropetrovsk Julia was born. Being a purposeful person, the girl always clearly knew what she wanted from life. At the age of thirty-six, Julia became a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Three years later, she took the post of deputy prime minister for fuel and energy resources. After six years of hard work, Yulia Tymoshenko rises a notch and becomes the right hand of the country's president. She worked at this post until 2009. Her attempt to run for president the same year failed. The main leader of the country was Viktor Yanukovych. A year later, the Cabinet of Ministers led by Tymoshenko was dismissed. It is noteworthy that such decisions are always taken collectively. However, Yulia Tymoshenko thought differently. Putting all kinds of pressure on the head of Naftagaz, she forced him to sign this contract. This is the first, but not the main reason why a criminal case was opened against the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
The main reason

On the other hand, the management of Naftogaz received real certified documents on permission to conduct further negotiations with Russia. Here you can find two crimes at once. The first of these is forgery. Ms. Tymoshenko provided a fake document of great state importance. More significantly, she endorsed the fake with a genuine (according to the results of the examination) seal of the Cabinet of Ministers. This is also a crime.
The prosecutor and the decision
Based on these two points, the court qualified the actions of ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko as an abuse of office. According to the prosecution, her actions as a politician brought the country to the border of the economic crisis. On October 11, 2011, a meeting of the Pechersk court was held. Having examined the statement of the Naftogaz company and after listening to both sides, the judge Rodion Kireev found the leader of the Batkovschina party guilty of his deed. He also decided to invalidate the company’s claim for pecuniary damage. According to the prosecutor, the amount that the ex-prime minister should return to Naftogaz amounted to about $ 190 million. However, the court decided to increase the amount of damage several times. So, according to the decision of the authority Timoshenko, Yulia Vladimirovna should reimburse the company one and a half billion dollars.
Is the deadline long?

In 2012, the political situation worsened in Ukraine. A year later, several thousand demonstrators came to the main square of the country, dissatisfied with the actions of the ruling elite. The struggle for a new bright future turned into a bloody massacre. Everyone suffered: those guilty, and innocent, and ordinary citizens, and ardent revolutionaries. Many people died.
