Rescue the wounded and help fighters who were injured during the battle - this is the main task of field doctors. The Military Medical Academy in St. Petersburg appeared due to the realization that the restoration of combat-ready soldiers is a guarantee of a strong army. As you know, it is better to have one experienced soldier returning to service than two unshooted newcomers.
The prehistory of the organization of the medical educational institution was the opening of two hospitals under Admiral Peter the Great - the Admiralteysky and the Land, and already in 1173 the first surgical schools appeared, which became the basis of the future medical academy, which in 1808 was honored to be called the Imperial by order Tsar Alexander I.
At one time, such great scientists as Botkin and Sechenov, Pavlov and Bekhterev, Kolomnin, the first to use blood transfusion under military conditions, and Sklifosovsky taught here.
Today, the Military Medical Academy in St. Petersburg is training medical officers who are able to work in extreme situations and in places where there are no necessary sanitary conditions for mass admission of victims.
Within the walls of the academy, doctors are trained for both the missile and ground forces, the air force, navy, foreign armies and other specialists.
Home Front Training
For the first time that the army needed specialists who would uninterruptedly provide it with equipment, weapons and food, thought in 1900, therefore, the world's first school of quartermasters was opened. Today its successor is the Military Academy of Logistics, which trains officers capable of providing all types of troops with the necessary resources both in peacetime and during the fighting.
The graduates of the academy proved themselves in all wars, starting from the Russo-Japanese and World War I and ending with local conflicts in the 21st century. Often, the outcome of the battle depended on their timely delivery of ammunition and weapons.

Engineering troops appeared in the Russian army thanks to Peter I. The military academy in St. Petersburg dates back to 1712, when it was still an engineering school, founded by royal decree. According to the tradition of that time, its graduates spent the entire training period on the rights of ordinary soldiers and received the officer rank only upon arrival at the regiment.
Only in 1760, after military training and practice were introduced into the educational process, cadets began to receive an officer rank immediately after graduation. At one time, Dobrolyubov and Chernyshevsky studied here, and most of the officers of the artillery regiment on the battlefield near Borodino were its graduates.

Nakhimov School
The need to prepare young men for the subsequent higher naval education became the reason for the creation of the Nakhimov School in 1943. Initially, only children of the dead Red Army soldiers and partisans, as well as party workers and collective farmers, were accepted into it. This was the help of the Soviet state to orphans, since it took care of all the support.
It was founded in Leningrad in 1944, and the entire educational process was organized so that the children, leading a military-style life, had the opportunity to improve themselves, get acquainted with the culture and architecture of the city, getting the physical and spiritual training that the sailor needed so much. St. Petersburg military schools are very popular today with young men from different regions of Russia.
