One of the largest specialized universities in the Southern Federal District is the Russian State Social University - Rostov State University of Civil Engineering, which graduates professionals in a wide range of specialties in the field of construction. Founded back in 1943 as an institute, in 1997 it “grew” to the status of a university, and since the spring of 2016 it became the foundation (in alliance with the DSTU) for education as a supporting multidisciplinary university in the Rostov Region.
Story
In 1761, at the place where the university is located today, the Elizabethan redoubt of the fortress of St. Dmitry of Rostov was laid. But as an educational institution, he appeared in 1900 in the building of a commercial school, which, after 18 years, was reorganized and called the Don Commercial Institute. 12/16/1943 an order was issued on the foundation of the Rostov Civil Engineering Institute, and in 1992 he was granted the status of an academy. The result of another transformation in 1997 was the Rostov State University of Civil Engineering (RSSU).
Description
In this institution of higher education, students are trained in three degrees (bachelors, specialists and masters), and training is provided on a budgetary and paid basis. There is a military department at the university, and a dormitory is functioning for nonresident and foreign students.

- the target quota is the main.
The admission committee of the Rostov University of Civil Engineering (now part of the DSTU) is separately receiving documents:
- by forms of training: full-time, part-time and mixed;
- according to the programs: bachelor's degree, specialty, master's program;
- on government quotas and paid tuition agreements.
The university holds a separate competition for each of the conditions selected.
Deadlines for receiving documents
This is an important point for those who are going to enter the RSSU. In order not to be late, it should be remembered that documents are accepted for the budget flow:
- for undergraduate and specialty: from 19.06 to 26.07 for full-time and from 19.06 to 10.08 - for correspondence;

Competition Procedure
Rostov State University of Civil Engineering selects students into its ranks based on the results of entrance tests and additional entrance creative or professional tests (for some areas)
The priority disciplines are mathematics and drawing (for the specialties “architecture” and “urban planning”), and the auxiliary ones are Russian, social studies, physics and drawing.
All entrance exams are evaluated on a 100-point system.
Passing score
Rostov State University of Civil Engineering enrolls applicants for training when scoring a certain number of points. For different specialties, it can vary significantly. So, to get to the “automobile service” you need a minimum of 129 points, to “build” - 130. In “applied geodesy” the pass mark is 134 points, a little more in “applied computer science and electronics” (145), “land management and cadastres "(171). Future urban planners will have to try much harder to enter this specialty; they will have to overcome the 211 points barrier. It is most difficult for applicants to enter “architectural design”, the highest entrance criterion of the university is set in this direction - 320.

Preparing for admission in advance
The Rostov University of Civil Engineering within DNTU offers a wide selection of pre-university preparation for applicants, which is implemented at the Academy of entrants in the form of the following events:
- Preparation for a unified state examination - is offered to graduate students during school holidays.
- Small faculties - is an innovative form of work with high school students. Students of the stream, while still schoolchildren, can get an idea of their future specialty before admission. Along with school subjects, profile subjects are studied here according to a specific profile.
- Independent testing - is a demo test in all subjects, starting from the 2nd grade, in order to determine the residual knowledge of students by the beginning of the school year.
In addition, on the basis of the university, schoolchildren in grades 5-11 are offered education at the Sunday Computer School: the basics of programming, applied programming, etc.
Rostov University of Civil Engineering - reviews
Opinions are different among the “fresh” university graduates: some argue that you cannot learn without bribes (although such “experts” are found everywhere), others classify the university as the best in Rostov, with a high level of knowledge, good equipment and a variety of extracurricular activities.
Graduates who graduated from the Russian State Social University 20-30 years ago always characterize it as a “school of life,” which provided knowledge in all fields, and not just in the specialty that appears in the diploma of graduation. This is especially true for those who studied at the university as an economist. Today, construction specialties are becoming increasingly relevant and knowing the economy and the specifics of civil works, making a good career becomes easier.
