The development of the Ford Mustang began in 1968 at the Brighton plant. The car belongs to the models of the rarest modification of value for this series.
The machine appeared as a result of creating a project for Nascar. Ford was looking for a developer who could offer an engine that could compete with the four hundred and twenty-six motor in the racing series. According to the decree, the manufacturers participating in the project were required to make at least five hundred production cars and sell them using a network of dealers. After much deliberation, Ford decided to use the model as the basis for installing an updated engine.

Directly from the manufacturer’s conveyor, the original car models are delivered to the plant, and Ford Mustang Boss is produced from them. A lot of changes were added to the car’s design structure: the distance between the cups on the racks in the front became larger, the wings became more convex to accommodate the volumetric engine, they changed the fixation points of the front beam to position the exhaust system, the battery was placed in the trunk, two stabilizers were installed, a cutout was provided for the hood under the hood Adjustable air intake.
Ford Mustang Boss 429 received a power of three hundred and seventy-five liters per second and a torque of six hundred and ten nanometers, although in reality the power was more than five hundred liters per second. To reduce transport tax and insurance, manufacturers with dealers noted less power.
Compared with other modifications, the Ford Mustang had almost no differences from the production car. From the outside, only the emblem on the wing stood out in front of the wheel arch. To give uniqueness to each model, they assigned a special NASCAR identifier with a number that starts with two letters K to recall Kara Kraft.
Unfortunately, in 1970, due to the fact that the cost of fuel and the cost of production were increased, sales decreased, and it was decided to close the Boss 429 project. Currently, finding a similar car in the secondary market is quite difficult. In 2008, at the auction of Barrett-Jackson and eBay for the updated model Ford Mustang 429 require more than 350 thousand dollars.
In 1969, eight hundred and fifty-nine models were released. It was possible to make a choice of five color options (two shades of black, white, red and maroon).
Salon was offered only in black design. Each car was equipped with a mechanical transmission. Installation of the air conditioner was not feasible due to the rather large size of the engine. The Boss 429 engine was created by the process of finalizing the Ford 385 powerplant. The engine compartment of the production Ford Mustang was not wide enough to install the Boss 429.

It was decided to hire Kara Kraft from the city of Dearborn, who had previously been engaged in adapting the Ford Mustangs 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 modification to accommodate the updated engine and worked under a contract with Ford on several projects, including the Ford Mustang Boss 302 for racing competitions. Each car was equipped with a mechanical transmission. Installation of the air conditioner was not possible due to the engine with a rather large size. In 1970, four hundred and ninety-nine such models were created. Added new options for body colors. He began to stain with orange, green, coral shades. For the interior, a choice of black or black with white colors was provided. The cars had a matte black air intake on the hood, regardless of body color. The air conditioning never appeared.
