SHRUS - what is this part and how is it arranged?

Surely every car owner was surprised when he first heard the abstruse and sometimes magical names of spare parts and assemblies of his iron friend. And today's speech will not go at all about the cylinder head (cylinder head). Today we will devote attention to such a mechanism as SHRUS.

CV joint is

This is not a magic name at all, but simply an abbreviation. In abbreviated form, SHRUS is a hinge of equal angular velocities. The objective of this mechanism is to transfer the rotational motion of one axis to the other when both are at a certain angle relative to each other. The value of this angle is always variable.

At first glance, motorists, especially beginners, it seems that the SHRUS is a complex multifunctional part, the device of which only experienced designers know. In fact, the CV joint (VAZ 2110 or Renault Logan - it does not matter) is very primitive in its design, due to which it has a long service life.

SHRUS is a part consisting of only 4 nodes:

  • spherical body with driven shaft;
  • six balls;
  • a separator, which is a ring with a hole for holding the previous elements;
  • inner clips.

Thanks to its simple design, it can last longer than any other suspension mechanism. Perhaps that is why the SHRUS does not attach such special importance as anthers, shock absorbers and filters.

Replacement CV joint VAZ

All these four elements allow the mechanism to transmit rotational motion, and very evenly. What is noteworthy, the universal joint of the axle shafts, which essentially performs a similar function, does not possess the same ability as the SHRUS. This is a unique detail, which for some reason no one attaches much importance. In contrast, the universal joint cannot transmit rotational motion so uniformly . If the first half shaft works smoothly, then the second transfers the motion intermittently.

How does this mechanism work?

The principle of operation of the CV joint can be divided into 4 stages:

  1. There are spherical grooves on the inner race and inside the case of this part. Their number
    CV joint vaz 2110
    coincides with the number of balls.
  2. The last elements are held in the CV joint using a separator and are located between the fist and the housing. The balls move along the grooves of the body and fist (in the outer and inner diameters, respectively).
  3. When the drive shaft rotates, the force from the rotation is transmitted to the clip, and then to the driven shaft.
  4. When the angle between the two shafts changes, the balls move along the grooves in the free direction, while continuing to transmit force.

    Based on this, we see that the SHRUS is actually not so complicated in design and operation.

Replacement SHRUS VAZ - the main signs

Due to the fact that this part is a very reliable element of the chassis, the first 60 thousand kilometers for its condition, you can not worry at all. However, if you do not replace the CV joint anthers at the right time , this problem may affect you much earlier. The main signs of failure of this part is a characteristic knock, and more often - a crunch of the part while turning the drive wheels.
