The display panel is displayed on the front panel of the router. It consists of 8 LEDs:

Before you start configuring the router, you need to know exactly the connection parameters to the equipment of the provider. This information is usually indicated in the contract for the provision of data services. It can also be found on the official website of the telecommunications operator and by phone user support. Then we find out the parameters that you need to make in the Asus RT-N10P. Setting up a Rostelecom connection, for example, requires setting the following values:

  • The type of connection in this case is PPPoE.
  • A username and password are also set (they must be different from those used to connect to the network and specified in the contract).

We connect a router for setup

First you need to collect a temporary circuit to set the parameters of the Asus RT-N10P. The adjustment can be performed on a permanent circuit, but it is not always physically feasible. Therefore, it is recommended to configure this device in 2 stages. The first of them is a temporary connection and the task of all parameters, and the second is the transfer of the router to a permanent place and the collection of an already stationary circuit of the computer network. The procedure for collecting a temporary scheme is as follows:

  • We have a PC and a router nearby.
  • We connect them using a twisted pair cable that came with the network device.
  • We install the power supply of the router in the nearest outlet (if it is not there, then use it), and the plug at the end of its wire - into the advising port on the back of the network device.

First start-up and software setup

Then, setting up the Asus RT-N10P router requires setting program parameters that needed to be determined in advance. But the procedure for entering values ​​in this case is as follows:

  • The router and personal computer are turned on. We are waiting for each of them to finish loading.
  • Then we launch any of the installed Internet browsers on the PC. In his address line, enter four three-digit numbers that must be separated by a period. The first of them is 192, the second is 168. The last two values ​​are exactly the same - 001. This is the network address of the router. After that, you must confirm the entry. To do this, press the Enter key.
  • In response, a request appears, in two fields of which you need to enter a username and password. If this is the first time the router is turned on, then in both fields we type the same phrase: “admin”. Then it is necessary to point the manipulator pointer to the button labeled “Input” and make a single press of its left button. The task becomes a little more complicated if you are not the first owner of this router. The login and password set on it may differ from the default settings. Therefore, it is recommended to reset its parameters to the factory settings. To do this, just hold the button labeled "Reset" for 10 seconds.
  • Next, a window opens with the title: "Welcome." There will be only three points in its left column. The first is to verify that the connection is correct. You can skip it in this case. Then there will be Internet Setup. We go here and set the parameters from the provider, which were clarified earlier, that is, the type of connection, login, password and other data specified in the contract for the provision of services. The last item is “Router Settings”. Here you need to set the name of the wireless computing network, as well as the password to connect to it. Do not forget to set the encryption method. It is highly recommended that you select WPA2. It is he who guarantees the maximum degree of protection.
  • After making all the changes, do not forget to save them. To do this, make a single click on the button with the same name on the right side of the screen.

After that, you can turn off the computer and disassemble the completely temporary circuit.

Permanent installation and connection

Next, you need to install Asus RT-N10P already in a permanent place. The configuration of its software component is fully completed. You just need to put it in a permanent place, connect and check the correct operation of the network. The installation location of the router must meet four criteria:

  • A 220 V outlet should be nearby to provide power to the device.
  • The wire from the provider should easily reach here.
  • The router should be as close to the center of the room as possible. This will ensure the best signal quality.
  • It should not be protected from the rest of the room by metal sheets or structures. If this is not taken into account, the coverage area will be significantly reduced.

Next, we connect the power supply in the same way as in the case of the temporary circuit. Well, do not forget to install the antenna. Next, we check the circuit again and apply voltage.

  • We go into the settings and find the item called "Wireless Networks". Turn on Wi-Fi and scan for available wireless connections.
  • Then, in the list, select the name of our network (it was set in the previous steps) and connect to it.

It is much easier to check the wired part of the Asus RT-N10P router network. Connection setup in this case is automatic. Then, just on the switched-on PC, we launch the installed Internet browser, enter the address and get the start page of this Internet portal.

Configure IPTV

A technology such as IPTV is also implemented in the Asus RT-N10P. Setting up an IPTV connection is as follows:

  • Connects to one of four LAN ports using a twisted-pair IPTV set-top box.
