Suzuki Escudo is a typical representative of such a popular class in Japan and Europe as the Cross-Country Vehicle. In other words, this model is a cross-country car. And it is difficult to disagree with the fact that such machines are very relevant in the Russian Federation.
About the start of production
Suzuki Escudo began to be released in 1988. The company did not wait several years, and at the same time it released the TA01R open-body model. The fact that this system provides the transmission in the so-called “reduced mode”, which is designed specifically for driving on bad roads (or on obvious off-road). A very useful feature, thanks to which Suzuki Escudo quickly gained popularity in the Russian Federation.
And the body was reinforced with an integrated frame. So, they added rigidity, making it more durable and safe. And the rear suspension, which is multi-link, has gained independence. By the way, this car has an equally popular analogue, which is known as the Suzuki Grand Vitara.
There is one interesting fact. A legend wanders that allegedly Japanese experts in 1986 presented the project manager of the Niva-2121 project with a prospectus for the future, not yet built Suzuki Escudo. They presented it to Peter Prusov with an inscription that reads as follows: "The godfather of this car."

This modification of the Suzuki Escudo receives mostly positive reviews , and all thanks to its technical characteristics. 185 horsepower, a V-shaped 6-cylinder engine with a DOHC mechanism and distributed fuel injection - everything speaks for itself.
The unit is driven by an automatic gearbox (5-speed). Disc brakes, ventilated, suspension - multi-link (rear) and suspension (front). In general, the car is good.
