Childhood and early years
The birthplace of Denis Villeneuve was the Canadian city ​​of Quebec. He was born on the third of October, in 1967. From early childhood, at the initiative of parents, he studied at the St. Joseph Seminary. After completing his studies, Denis decided to enter the University of Quebec in the cinema department, which was located in the city of Montreal.
This specialty gave the future director an impetus in the right direction, and soon he began to be actively interested in cinema. 1991 gave Denis Villeneuve his first ever award in the RadioCanada contest. Within a few years, he released the first documentary short film REW FFWd, taking on the roles of director and screenwriter at the same time.

Denis Villeneuve continued to produce short films. In 2001, he directed his own full-length work, entitled Whirlpool, for which he received the highest national Canadian Gini Award.
