You've probably heard of such a character from âHarry Potterâ - Justin Finch-Fletchley. This boy entered and studied with the main character at Hogwarts, but only at a different faculty. If Harry Potter himself was in Gryffindor, then Justin was in Hufflepuff.
Who is that
Justin Finch-Fletchley is a character whom viewers meet in the first part of the story about the magic school âHarry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stoneâ (2001). However, the main role was played by the second film adaptation - âHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secretsâ, released in 2002. Justin Finch-Fletchley is a fictional character who was coined by writer Joan Rowling.
Facts gathered
Justin is the same age as Harry Potter, that is, he entered Hogwarts at the same time, only now the Hat identified the guys in different faculties. The viewer still encounters this character until the fifth part - âHarry Potter and the Order of the Phoenixâ (2007). Of course, even ardent fans of this magical story might just not notice Justin appearing in the frame.
The boy often scoffed at Harry Potter when he heard the young wizard speak the snake language. However, after all the events that occurred in the second part, Justin Finch-Fletchley apologized and explained his act. Second-grader just thought Harry was Slytherin's heir.
After a while, Justin joined Dumbledore's army and turned out to be a great helper. He did not return to his sixth year of study, because Voldemort intended to destroy Hogwarts, and the guy would suffer from terrible consequences, since he was muggle-born (half-breed).
Turn of events
Justin Finch-Fletchley from âHarry Potterâ was one of several victims who were attacked by the Basilisk.
Note. Basilisk is a fictional ancient monster that resembles an incredible size snake. Can live up to 1000 years, and this is not the limit. It is a magical creature that was brought out by Herpius the Evil. The basilisk is one representative of a kind, because immediately after its birth it was forbidden to bring such creatures. And to get a monster, you would have to make the toad hatch a chicken egg.
The basilisk has a deadly gift. He who looks into his eyes is dying. This would have happened with Justin Finch-Fletchley, if not for the ghost of an almost Headless Nick, who was swimming at an important moment. Student Hufflepuff looked into the eyes of a huge snake, but due to the thin veil of the ghostâs body between them, the guy did not die, but froze. His condition resembled a coma, only during which a person freezes in that position in which he stood.
Ghost victim
The almost Headless Nick took a deadly look at himself, but since he was already dead, he could not die a second time. Although everyone thought the ghost had disappeared, in fact, it changed its color from light to dark, and also could not move on its own while the Basilisk spells were in effect.
The curse is gone
In âHarry Potter,â Justin Finch-Fletchley hit the hospital wing. Initially, the school began to panic because they were afraid of the same fate as the rest of the victims. However, Dumbledore reassured everyone, but introduced a curfew, all students had to move around the school strictly together and nearby.
One Professor Stalk could have pulled Justin Finch-Fletchley out of this state, but he needed a mandrake root. For this, the teacher waited for his maturation, and then prepared a healing potion. This is incredible, but no one died from the evil spell of the Basilisk.
Hatred for Harry
After recent events, when Harry Potter suddenly spoke to everyone in a serpentine language, all students began to bypass the young wizard. They believed that since the boy knows him, it means that he is able to call from the depths of the Basilisk, because this monster is a snake.
In this story, there is another student - Ernie Macmillan, who publicly slandered Harry and caused general panic. However, after curing all the victims, the boy apologized to everyone. Justin also pleaded guilty when he learned that Harry had killed Basilisk and had nothing to do with his appearance.
Just Facts from Justin's Biography
The boy was born in 1980. When he was 11 years old, he entered the first year of Hogwarts. It just so happened that Justin was a Muggle, which meant that one of his parents was an ordinary person.
Initially, no one wanted to send the boy to study at Hogwarts, he had a career in Eton. However, fate decreed otherwise, so that Justin became part of the army against Voldemort.
Duel club
The viewer sees how Justin Finch-Fletchley (you can see the photo of the character below), together with the main character and the rest of the students, enters the Duel Club.
Note. The duel club was founded by Professor Lokons, and after a while Severus Snape began to manage it. It was he who set Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy against each other, and then showed the students a new Expelliarmus spell, which the children had to practice on a pedestal. It is important to note that this treasured word saved the life of Harry Potter after some time, when Voldemort attacked him.
When Harry went to a duel, Draco Malfoy called a snake with a spell. Mocking how the reptile is rapidly creeping toward the main character, the students expected the victory of the Slytherin student. However, everything changed when Harry Potter suddenly suddenly stopped the snake and began to hiss in its tongue. Everyone was in shock and surprise (even Severus Snape), after which the professor simply got rid of the snake and quickly finished the duel.
It is believed that this club was created for a reason. It was opened specifically to verify the involvement of Harry Potter in Voldemort. To do this, they needed to understand whether the young wizard spoke a serpentine language or not. A duel club would simply show how Harry is connected to Voldemort.
A bit about the actor
Justin Finch-Fletchley was played by Edward Randall. He appeared in the film only a few times, but for him this role was very important.
For the British actor, this was a debut release, which would serve as an excellent start to his future career. However, Edward Randall has not appeared on the screens since 2002, but continues to write songs, compose poems. The reasons why the actor is not involved in any projects are kept secret.
Interesting facts about the second part of âHarry Potterâ
All the victims of the Basilisk were numb, but this does not mean that the actors had a tight time during the filming. It may seem like little students are literally stuck in the game âSea worries onceâ, but you can get very tired of this. It was not clear how in the frame the actors, without the slightest hesitation, held their hands in weight or froze in a terrible scream. But the secret was that during the filming incredibly realistic models of the actors were prepared to facilitate their work.
Other interesting facts:
- Many viewers could not understand how the Basilisk ended up in the tunnels under Hogwarts. But Tom Riddle, who knew snake language and was quite capable of controlling a young monster, could deal with him. And so that no one would destroy him, the guy hid him in a secret room, which could be found in an abandoned ladies' toilet.
- The poison of the Basilisk can kill the crucifixes, so Harry Potter was able to get rid of Tom Reddle's diary after the boy got one of the four fangs of the snake.
- This part of the film has become significant and important for the final battle against Voldemort. If the audience carefully watched âThe Chamber of Secretsâ, they could have guessed how to get rid of the crucifixes, even before the moment when this was not mentioned in the film adaptations.
Finally
Justin Finch-Fletchley is not so bright and memorable character, but he appeared in one of the most useful parts. She became the foundation not only for the rest of the film adaptations about Harry Potter, but also for the popular prequel âFantastic creatures and where they liveâ. It is important to note that Newt Salamander mentioned the Basilisk, telling what this monster can be and how it can harm. One can only guess if Dumbledore knew that such a terrible monster lives in the walls of his school.
