Bondarenko Roman Dmitrievich - former striker of the Torpedo football club (Zaporozhye). He played for the same club in various football leagues, first of the Soviet Union, and then of independent Ukraine. In 1998, he was called up for games as part of the Turkmenistan national football team.

Roman Bondarenko was born on August 14, 1966 in Zaporozhye, Ukraine. Like all boys, he started playing football at an early age. As they grew older, the physical and technical data of Roman Bondarenko as a football player developed.

For a long time, the young player played for non-professional clubs, taking part in competitions of regional and regional significance.

In 1987, at the age of 21, Roman Bondarenko received an invitation from a more or less eminent club - Torpedo (Zaporozhye). At that time, the young football player weighed 76 kg with a height of 182 cm. Excellent physical preparation, the ability to see the field and scoring flair allowed the young player to break into the main team. In the 1989 season, Bondarenko scored a record number of goals for the team. After playing just 48 games, he scores 18 goals.

Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, Torpedo (Zaporozhye) played in the second minor football league. The success of the team was unstable. However, in 1990, “Torpedo” managed to take first place. The victory brought fame to the club and opened up prospects for development both for the team itself and for its individual players, especially for leaders, of whom Roman Bondarenko was. However, further political events in the country did not allow to realize the player’s potential in full.

After the USSR ceased to exist, Ukraine has its own system of competitive football. Bondarenko's team now began to play in the country's major league. This continued until 1998, when the Zaporozhye Torpedo again flew into the lower football league of Ukraine.

After such a blow, the football player was thinking about ending the player’s career, but received an invitation from the more eminent club - Metallurg (Zaporozhye). Bondarenko Roman will perform in the 1999 season for this team.

In 1999, Roman spent his last season in his career for Bondarenko from Zaporozhye. Thus, Roman’s career in professional football lasted 12 years.

In 1998, having accepted the invitation of the trainer of the national football team of Turkmenistan, Roman Bondarenko is a member of this team at the World Asian Games, which were held in Thailand.

In 1990, he, together with Torpedo (Zaporozhye), became the winner of the second lowest football league in the USSR. Twice, in 1992 and 1993, he becomes a semi-finalist of the Ukrainian Cup.

Speaking for the Zaporizhzhya “Torpedo” at the championship of Ukraine, Roman went on the field in 236 matches, scoring 57 goals. In the last season for himself, when Bondarenko played for Metallurg, he scored five goals and participated in 26 matches.

The football player spent his best season in 1990, when, speaking in the second minor league, having played only 36 matches, Roman Bondarenko managed to score 19 goals.

To the worst season in the career of a football player, apart from the first two, it is customary to attribute the 1993-1994 season. Then, speaking for “Torpedo” (Zaporozhye) in the Premier League of Ukraine, Roman managed to score only five goals in 32 matches played.
