Slang vocabulary in the Russian language has long been a common phenomenon. But many people, having heard this phrase, immediately think about criminal expressions that an ordinary person does not immediately understand. But an example of jargon can be found in everyday life. And there are, by the way, much more of these.
What is slang vocabulary
Before considering an example of jargon, you should understand what this terminology is. So, these are words that are used only in a certain social group of people. They can be united by one profession, specialty, interests, age, common views, etc. In other words, jargon in the Russian language is a completely separate speech that only certain people can understand. And, based on the fact that today there are a lot of social groups, the jargon, respectively, also flourishes.
Types of Jargon
It should be noted that today the example of jargon can be found in almost any field of activity. They arise in almost any team that is moderately stable. So, for example, you can observe jargon in the speech of schoolchildren, students, military, musicians, athletes, alcoholics, criminals, etc. As you can see - the social "scatter" is quite large. Needless to say, jargon can even be called with confidence the expression of the intelligentsia - and that will be right. After all, their expressions are understandable only to them, and they were formed not from scratch. So everything is fair.
Popular words
Many people do not even know that they use slang words. They have become so firmly entrenched in our lives that they have already become quite normal and acceptable expressions, and we pronounce them without thinking. Take as an example the speech of schoolchildren or students. The word “fizra”, “couple”, “physicist”, “flail”, “annoying”, “clear”, “I don’t get it”, etc. - we hear all this every day and understand what these expressions mean.
However, there are the words "stronger". We are talking about the jargon of people associated with the criminal sphere. Or, as it is also called, "thieves." Perhaps the most common word from this area is “zone”. Everyone definitely heard him. It means, as you could already understand, a prison. By the way, in fairness it should be noted that thieves and criminal jargon is the richest of all existing. It is truly a separate language. “Fart” (luck), “Kent” (close friend), “Olive” (bullet), “Kipishnite” (outrage), “Zhigan” (desperate) - there are many more such words. You should not go deep into their meaning - you can already understand that this "language" is really complex.
Emotionality
It is worth noting that jargon, examples of words of which were considered above, differ in some features. Whatever sphere they belong to, they are united by one thing - a high level of expressivity. Many jargon appeared due to the fact that it was necessary to come up with some kind of word that successfully describes a particular situation (or person). When there are no standard expressions that would convey the entire emotional degree of enthusiasm or disapproval. It should be as emotional as possible - this is the main characteristic of jargon. For example, the phrase “What kind of hitting?”, Pronounced with the appropriate intonation, sounds much more serious than “What are you doing?”. By the way, a rather striking example of jargon.
This vocabulary is also characterized by much greater variability and mobility. Also, jargon dies quite quickly - they are replaced by other, new expressions. So, for example, the youth slang of the 60s has practically disappeared - today young people talk in a completely different way.
The formation of jargon
So, for what reason such expressions appear - it is clear, however, how are they formed? Actually very simple. The first way is through borrowing. So, for example, the word "man" (guy, man), "fan" (fan, worship), "people" (people, society), etc., came into our modern language. As you might guess, the listed words are taken from English.
Still often they simply take and rethink some kind of a nationwide word. For example, the word "buzz" - it means "drink." Why exactly this expression? Because it very successfully emphasizes the duration of this process.
There is also another popular way, which is word formation. There is such a word as "bastard" (have fun). Hence the slang “bastard” (pleasure). And there are many more such examples.
Jargon has always been and will continue to exist. This vocabulary constantly interacts with the nation-wide language, "grabbing" certain expressions from it and transforming them in its own way. The most important thing is to know the measure in the use of such words. Still, you should not clog your speech too often with such expressions. Otherwise, the purity of our mighty Russian language will have to be forgotten if everyone switches to jargon.
