Bit of history
Not a very big city in southern Russia called Cherkessk - the capital of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. It is located on the right side of the Kuban River, in the Ciscaucasia zone.
The city appeared relatively recently, in early 1825, and bore a different name. They named him in honor of Batal Pasha, the head of the military detachment in Turkey. After some time, or rather, in 1934, the city changed its name to Sulimov. However, three years later, changes again occurred. Their result was a new name - Yezhovo-Cherkessk. But the story does not end there. Two years later, the arrest of People's Commissar Yezhov took place, and this, of course, led to the fact that the first part of the name of the city was decided to be removed. And so the city of Cherkessk turned out. And that is how we know him at the present time.
But the war is still ongoing over the name of the capital of the republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, which erupts between the Circassians and Karachais. This is due to the fact that the latter dream that someday the capital city will be called Karachaevsky.
Climate of Cherkessk
The Karachay-Cherkess capital has a fairly warm climate. For example, in summer the air temperature exceeds 38 degrees with a plus sign. And because of the scorching sun, it is simply impossible for residents to stay on the street for a long time, otherwise you can get severe burns or sunstroke, so they often "cool" near city fountains or in parks. Some generally prefer to spend daytime without leaving home. It is because of this that in the summer there are very few residents on the streets of the city.
In the winter season, air temperature does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius. And then, the capital of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic can boast of such a "cold" only in the last winter month - February.
But, despite the high temperature, constant piercing winds blow in the city and pour strong long rains, which can go on without stopping for several weeks. And because of the wind in winter, it seems that there is a terrible cold outside.
Ecology
There are absolutely no working factories or production factories left in the city, and only automobile exhaust gases and household garbage that people throw out pollute it. That is why the air here is clean, which favorably affects the life expectancy of citizens.
