Intramuscular injection alone

To begin with, the most common are precisely intramuscular injections. Even small children, playing doctors, give dolls an injection in the ass. And adult people, such a question as intramuscular injections into the buttock, should not be confused at all.

Personally, I don’t remember when I was first given an injection, but my mother is a general practitioner. All the inhabitants of our entrance constantly ran to her for help. Including she often had to take on the role of a nurse and make intramuscular injections.

I remember very well how my mother did intramuscular injections in the thigh of our neighbor on the landing, the boy Gene.

I went to play with him, but when my mother came, he immediately hid under the bed. For this reason, the injections prescribed to him were done in the thigh. Gennady was very afraid and categorically refused to turn his back to the syringe. But in order to give him intramuscular injections in the thigh, Gena's parents had to hold him together. He screamed and wriggled, but as far as I remember, everything ended happily.

Well, it’s quite possible that the doctor doesn’t live in your entrance, and it’s okay if you have to become a home nurse or nurse. I myself studied at a medical school, my parents are doctors and injections I can do professionally. At the same time, I believe that at least anyone can do normal intramuscular injections. My wife is not a doctor, but if necessary, perform this procedure easily and naturally.

Just as I taught my wife and adult children, I can teach you, right? I am sure that if you need to make such an injection, then you will succeed.

As already mentioned, medications are most often administered precisely intramuscularly. It is immediately necessary to remember that the injection is not performed in any part of the buttock, but only in its upper outer part. This part is called the upper outer quadrant. Performing intramuscular injections in the right place, you will not get into the bone or nerve, and the drug is absorbed there faster.

Execution technique

Preliminary preparation

  • We subject the ampoule with the drug to an external analysis: look at the name, expiration date, quantity.
  • Shake the ampoule, lowering the contents down.
  • We make a file with a special nail file, which is present in the package with the medicine.
  • After wiping the ampoule with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol, we break off the end.
  • Having lowered the needle into the ampoule, with the help of a piston we select the drug in the syringe.
  • By gently pressing the piston, tapping the syringe with your finger, we get rid of air bubbles.

How to inject

  • The patient lies on his back, relaxing the buttocks.
  • Wipe the upper outer quadrant moistened with alcohol with a cotton swab, the proposed injection site.
  • We clamp another cotton swab dipped in alcohol in the bent little finger of our free hand.
  • Taking the syringe in his hand, with her little finger hold the needle cannula.
  • With your free hand we stretch the skin at the injection site (if the injection is given to the child, then we take the skin into a fold).
  • The needle is inserted into the muscle sharply at right angles, approximately more than half its length.
  • The drug is introduced into the muscle by slow pressure on the piston with the thumb of the free hand. I would not advise doing this with the hand in which you hold the syringe. They do it too, but I explain the way we were taught at a medical school.
  • With a clean cotton swab dipped in alcohol (you already have it under the little finger), press the injection site and at the same time sharply pull the needle out.
  • It remains only to massage the muscle for more rapid absorption of the administered drug.

That's all! Congratulations! Now in our world has increased one specialist in intramuscular injection.

hint

Perhaps you had to see or feel on yourself how a nurse claps her hand on the priest, performing an injection. I will tell you honestly that the teachers did not recommend us to do this and it is unprofessional. I wish you good health!
