Insect bites: how to provide first aid

When insect bites, poison gets into the wound, which is a strong allergen. It spreads quickly and can cause serious trouble. Thus, severe allergic reactions cause insect bites in a person from the order Hymenoptera - bees, bumblebees, wasps and hornets, which sting most often in July – August. Wasps are the most aggressive of them, in addition, unlike bees and bumblebees pollinating plants, they sometimes cause significant damage to the crop by eating fruit. If you find a hornet’s nest in a garden, you should destroy it so as not to endanger the health of your family members, especially children. To do this, use insecticides or simply fill the nest with a large amount of boiling water.

Insect bites cause burning and short-term pain, sometimes quite severe. After that, the skin turns red and swells. To alleviate the symptoms of a bite, a wet dressing is applied over it - it can be moistened with vodka, ammonia. An unpleasant sensation will help to remove a piece of raw potato: it must be applied to the skin, periodically replacing with a new one. The well-known Zvezdochka balm is also useful: its use will help get rid of the itching that causes an insect bite. The tumor will decline much faster. If a bee stings, first aid also consists in removing the sting - without removing it completely, you risk getting suppuration. The wound is then treated with iodine.

Normally, edema lasts only a couple of hours. However, if it does not pass, but, on the contrary, increases and reaches large sizes, you should consult a doctor : sometimes insect bites are fraught with serious consequences. This is especially true for the head area: edema usually lasts longer, up to several days. But the most dangerous bites in the tongue: this can happen, for example, if the insect got into food or food and was not noticed on time. You should immediately consult a doctor if a bee or wasp stings a person in the area of the tongue, lips or neck: in some cases, an insect bite can be fatal. Reaching the larynx, the poison causes its swelling and, as a result, suffocation. The reaction may occur within an hour, and sometimes even shorter. With a tendency to allergic reactions, great caution must be exercised while in nature, and always carry the antihistamine recommended by your doctor.

A solution of drinking soda or gruel from it, rubbing the skin with ammonia or diluted cologne will help eliminate itching. Traditional medicine recommends applying fresh linden, bird cherry, mint or plantain leaves to the bite sites - they must first be washed and slightly wrinkled.
