Scott was never able to fully understand how to manage his ability. However, the device made by the teacher allowed him to feel more confident.

Professor Xavier entrusted the hero, who now began to be called Cyclops, to manage a team of young mutants. After intense training for several years, this mutant became a real combat tactic and began to show the makings of an outstanding strategist.

The hero acquired his nickname Cyclops due to the need to use monolithic glasses made of ruby ​​quartz. The latter do not allow Summers to incinerate everything that his gaze is directed at.

Cyclops are invulnerable to exposure to their own unique ability. His body is surrounded by a natural psionic field, which safely absorbs the destructive rays that are released from the eyes. In battle, the character uses the device to change the intensity of his own energy weapons.
