The article tells about the TT pistol: what does the TT mean (abbreviation), what is the history of this weapon from the moment of creation to the present day.
Rearmament
After the revolution and the subsequent Civil War, the question of the modernization of the army arose. And if there were no problems with rifles, then the revolver of the Nagan system is clearly outdated. And in the early 30s, the government was given the task of the defense KB to develop new personal weapons.
What does T T mean?
After a series of demonstrations, tests and evaluations, it was decided to adopt the designer Tokarev pistol. It was from here that its name came - Tula Tokareva. It was distinguished by reliability, low weight, accuracy of the battle, and most importantly - ease of manufacture, which in those difficult times was also important. However, he did not replace the revolver of the Nagan system completely - the latter remained in warehouses so much that to this day some departmental departments are equipped with them and donated for storage with subsequent sale to collectors.
War
During the Great Patriotic War, the German occupiers well recognized on themselves what T T means as a combat unit. The pistol was distinguished by excellent characteristics, and soon the command of the Nazi army began to arm individual parts of the Wehrmacht forces and paramilitary troops with captured TTs. Towards the end of the war, this weapon became one of the symbols of victory, along with the PPSh, the T-34 tank and the Mosin rifle.
Post-war years
When World War II died down, the gun quickly spread to almost the whole world. It was bought or manufactured (sometimes even without a license) by many countries, and today it can be found even on the African continent. By the way, during the years of the Vietnam War, which means T T like a gun, the US Army also recognized it - partisans used it widely.
Much later, he dispersed to those countries where the possession and carrying of short-barreled weapons was legalized. The brainchild of Tokarev has earned a reputation as a powerful, reliable and simple weapon. True, there were also disadvantages - the lack of a standard form and action fuse, a not-so-comfortable handle and a small number of rounds in a magazine. The magazine lock also quickly wore out, as a result of which it fell out. Well, in the dashing years after the collapse of the USSR, the criminal contingent fell in love with T. T. The gun came to their liking by the fact that it pierced most of the lightweight body armor, which other models could not boast of. This affected the fact that many samples stolen from military depots were not registered in the bulletproof library, and after the crime it was impossible to track the gun and owner.
It is also used in armed conflict in the south of Ukraine - it went to militias from military depots.
Our days
Now TT can be purchased in the form of MMG (mass-size model), a signal pistol or pneumatic. The first two, by the way, are almost always made by remaking old models from the war and pre-war years, which makes them a collectible. A TT-T traumatic gun is also available . Its price is from 10 to 15 thousand rubles.
