Even if he himself is in mortal danger, he is unable to shoot at the enemy.
The tank commander has to fix the problems associated with Ellison on the go. In the end, Don Collier takes extreme measures - orders Norman to shoot a captured German soldier from a revolver. The order of the commander must be executed, and the radio operator Allison, squinting, pulls the trigger. The German soldier is dead, the lesson proved to be useful. In the next battle, Norman Ellison is already confidently scribbling the Nazis from a machine gun, as a result of which he kills five enemy soldiers on the spot.
Fighting
The ongoing battles take place in a difficult situation for the American tank crew. Their combat vehicle is inferior in terms of fire power to the German Tigers. The maneuverability of the Sherman tank also leaves much to be desired. The crew of Don Collier struggles against the onslaught of German forces and miraculously leaves the fierce battle without serious losses.
Soon the commander of a tank platoon dies, and Sergeant Collier assumes command of the unit. Several “Shermans” under his command come to the rescue of the American infantry who were surrounded. German anti-tank battery destroyed, allied soldiers liberated.
Irma and Emma
During intense battles, American troops occupy a small German town. Don Collier intends to get an overnight stay in a house with his crew. He enters the first apartment he finds and finds a lonely woman named Irma there. The German woman does not object to the visit of the military, but her cousin Emma hides under the bed in fear. The last battle
The crew members against a direct collision, Norman Ellison and other soldiers offer to retreat and thereby gain time, wait for reinforcements. The commander orders to stay and accept the battle.
The damaged Sherman enters into an unequal battle with the enemy, one after another, members of the heroic crew die. Ammunition is running out, there is nowhere to wait for reinforcements.
