Before you start using the gun, you need to carefully familiarize yourself with its description, operating rules and safety measures that are set out in the passport.
The purpose of the gun
The single-barreled multiple-shot gun 106 TOZ is intended for amateur hunting of small animals and birds at a short distance (not exceeding 30 m), as well as the protection of crops, domestic animals and household facilities and self-defense. For firing, hunting cartridges are used having 20 caliber with a sleeve of 70 mm.
TOZ-106: technical specifications
This shotgun is made on the basis of MTs-20-01. Total length - 804-820 mm. When folded for transportation, the length is approximately 530 mm (no more). Weight with an empty magazine is about 2.5 kg. Butt TOZ 106 - folding. The length of the store is 70 mm. Caliber TOZ-106 - 20 mm. Bolt bolt, magazine designed for 2 or 4 (sold separately) cartridges. The bed is made of birch. Issued by TOZ (Tula Arms Plant).
TOZ-106 has the following characteristics:
- The barrel of the gun has a length of 250 mm. It is connected to the box by press fit and fixed with a pin. The gun has a rear sight and a front sight, allowing for targeted shooting.
- The TOZ-106 bolt is longitudinally sliding, having a rotation; in the bolt there is a percussion mechanism. In the case connected to the box, the trigger is mounted. The trigger pull is not adjustable. Cocking is done when you open the shutter. The weapon has a cocking indicator, which protrudes when cocked above the surface of the liner, if lowered, it is drowned.
- The detachable magazine, having the form of a box, is designed for 2 (4) cartridges; there are two latches located on the sides.
- The stock of this gun is made of metal, folding, having a rubber butt pad. Mounted on the axis, which is located in the bracket. Fixing the butt in the folded position (for transportation) is carried out using the latch, which is located in the forend, and in the firing position - the axis in the wedge grooves of the bracket.
TOZ-106: reviews
This weapon, not made in the best quality, has undeniable advantages, such as an attractive price, unsurpassed compactness. In addition, the TOZ-106 tuning has many features.
According to user reviews, the drawback of the model is the design of the store: when it is filled with cartridges, it is quite difficult to separate from the weapon without using a tool. The dimensions of the magazine do not correspond to the length of the cartridge, and this helps to ensure that the cartridges abut the "stump" of the barrel, there is a delay when shooting. The bore is chrome plated. The TOZ-106 shotgun is equipped with a sliding shutter, with rotation when locking. If the butt is complicated, the gun is small-sized, which makes its transportation and storage much easier. The gun is equipped with a quick-detachable magazine. Fuses reliably ensure the safety of handling the gun and exclude the shot when the buttstock is removed or folded, and also if you accidentally press the trigger.
At TOZ-106 the price is about 300 cu
One of the shortest domestic guns: TOZ-106, OF-93, "Lynx-K"
Each of the guns considered in this article cannot be fully attributed to the hunting species. However, we will consider them as weapons for a camping trip or rafting along the rivers, as well as exciting shooting. At the same time, we will take their consumer qualities as the main ones, namely as an entertaining gun for shooting at leisure and shooting with ONE arm, as well as as a kind of unique legal similarity to a pistol.
Lynx-K
Created by KBP in 1993 as a military rifle. The gun has a 12 gauge with a 70 mm chamber.
When folded, the length is 657.4 mm, when unfolded - 897 mm. Barrel length - 528 mm. The magazine is tubular, on top of the barrel there are seven rounds and one, respectively, inside the barrel. Empty weight - 2.6 kg. Manual reloading, carried out due to the movement of the barrel back and forth. The trigger mechanism is self-cocking.
OF-93
This shotgun was launched in 1993 and was initially positioned as the cheapest gun for self-defense of farmers (then it was considered an extremely fashionable idea).
Nevertheless, and this is more than logical, nobody wanted to buy this gun and its release was microscopic. Now it is produced in homeopathic quantities, however, in large arms stores it can still be found on sale. Moreover, which is quite interesting, manufacturers indicate that this gun can be either ordinary or piece-wise for export. The difference between the piece model of the gun from the model in the serial production is the increased characteristic of the accuracy of the battle, the improved protective and decorative coating of individual parts of the gun, and especially the conservation method, which ensures the longest shelf life of the guns for shipment to any hard to reach areas.
OF-93 is available in several versions. Earlier had a plastic forend and a plastic butt. Initially, it was also conceived as a rifle for immobilizing the animal, with a 28-caliber barrel for special syringes, hence the forend with the butt. Its modern manufacture is distinguished by a butt of three wires with rubber butt plates, and the forend is completely absent, the caliber is only 28.
OF-93 is a crucial single-barreled barrel that makes it possible to fire both 28-caliber cartridges (a model with a 28-caliber barrel was also produced) and a standard 6-caliber signal cartridge from an RPSh launcher. For this purpose, an appropriate caliber (23 mm) barrel is provided, into which a 12 gauge barrel is inserted, which is fastened to the rear with a screwed coupling.
The barrel is 12x70 with a length of 400 mm, the butt is folding - the length of the gun with a barrel of twelfth caliber is eight hundred and five and a half millimeters. The mass of the gun is 2 kg. The TOZ-106 box is made of high-strength material.
It is worth noting that such a gun has no analogues among civilian models abroad, because in most countries a gun with such a short barrel can only be used by law enforcement agencies. "Lynx-K" and TOZ-106-01, in accordance with the law of the Russian Federation, have a blocking the production of a shot in the state of a folded stock.
Firepower
Lynx-K is the undisputed leader here. Due to the 12 gauge and barrel length 528 mm (only 52 mm shorter than the barrel of a conventional Saigi-12, and 57 mm longer than the barrel of a Benelli shotgun) against 20 caliber and 250 mm barrel available from the TOZ-106 "Lynx -K "is made a much more powerful gun.
The flip side of the light-weight and 28-caliber coin is a much sharper return than conventional rifles, almost eliminating the possibility of firing with one hand. Moreover, the presence of an iron folding butt makes recoil extremely unpleasant and with the usual holding of the gun (to produce a second shot) it takes a certain amount of time to recover, a blow to the shoulder is very strong. In addition, reloading "back and forth", especially if you already have skills in handling ordinary pump-action shotguns, at first it seems unusual and uncomfortable. Addiction, respectively, occurs, but after that you need to adapt to normal systems. The bottom line is that the use of weapons should be worked out to automatism, without the participation of consciousness, for this reason opposing skills can greatly interfere with each other.
Reload speed
The reload speed is much higher for the Lynx, and the maximum number of rounds is 5 instead of 3 for TOZ. The Lynx, in fact, is the only one of the guns presented in the review that has an external thread at the end of the barrel for screwing on a removable muzzle device. But the Lynx-K itself is not equipped with a replacement choke. Only one cylinder-type nozzle is installed. Complete with a replaceable choke (choke, payday, cylinder), only a long modification of the “Lynx” is sold, while there have not yet been any separately sold nozzles for this gun.
Reliability TOZ-106, as a rule, is estimated several times higher than the "Lynx". Nevertheless, in order to achieve such a level of reliability, the 106-TOZ requires a careful adjustment with proper metalwork training of the performers.
After a little refinement, the TOZ-106 can withstand firing with semi-magnum cartridges with 32 grams of shot, and the result is quite acceptable.
To reload the Lynx, you need to open the receiver cover, which can be done only if the butt is folded. Charging is very slow compared to conventional pump-action shotguns. The process of loading cartridges into the store itself requires sustainable skills. At TOZ, the store is just changing.
Due to the fact that OF-93 is a crucial single-barrel, it is much inferior in rate of fire to others. Firepower is more limited by the shooter - when using a conventional 12-gauge cartridge, it has strong recoil. The only cartridges made at the factory that can still be used somehow are the tandem bullets, or the shotgun sport bullets of 24 g. Naturally, this weapon, to put it mildly, does not show miracles in terms of combat. From it you can comfortably shoot only weakened or improvised cartridges (at a half-charge rate or 0.75).
It should be noted that the resource guaranteed by the manufacturers, which the OF-93 has, is only 400 shots with conventional 12-caliber cartridges. Taking up this gun, it is hardly possible to doubt it.
Compact and easy to carry
Here, the undisputed leader is the new TOZ-106, which is 128 mm (about 5 inches) shorter than the Lynx. Despite this, the length of the “Lynx” with the stock folded is small enough so that it can be freely placed in a backpack. Lynx-K is a little heavier empty, and if with cartridges in the store, then the difference will increase quite noticeably.
"Lynx" has a serious design flaw - the lack of a special separate stopper that blocks reloading when there is a cartridge in the chamber, as is often the case with a conventional pump. That is, the gun, if it does not stand on the fuse (which additionally serves as a stopper), can be reloaded with ease, regardless of the presence in the cartridge chamber. This is not very good, because in the process of wearing it is often necessary to hold the forearm with one hand, and this, especially considering the moment that reloading is carried out while the barrel is moving forward, can cause an unintentional ejection of cartridges - it will only be enough to turn the gun upside down and shake it slightly .
The design of the fuse, from an ergonomic point of view, is very unsuccessful. It can not be turned off quickly, in addition, it is necessary to perform a very unnatural movement. Why such a fuse is required, acting only with self-resetting trigger, remains a mystery.
Fuse for TOZ is standard and is located on the shank of the receiver. Given the availability of a folding stock and a pistol grip, this makes it very difficult to access. Despite this, he is still better than the Lynx.
106-TOZ when sending the cartridge to the chamber allows not to cock the hammer. To do this, just press the shutter release (without closing the shutter) and close the shutter while holding it down. To cock the drummer, just lower the shutter.
OF-93 is the lightest - 2 kg, disassembled when worn. Instead of a fuse, a drum cock is provided with a key. Perhaps the constructor considered this a fresh idea, but this idea is not, on the contrary, the platoon is extremely inconvenient, and you need to release this key when reloading (i.e., you won’t be able to wind up the handle). It is possible that the effort required to press a key can be reduced if you are creative.
Thrustiness
Each of the guns in question is very inconvenient when throwing up - because of the metal shoulder rest the applicability is very poor. The least comfortable shotgun, “Lynx,” then comes the OF-93, the best of all, and with a significant margin - TOZ-106.
A quick vskidka from the position of "butt at the thigh" is not provided by any of the samples. But in general, 106-TOZ is the most convenient in terms of aiming and retention.
In OF-93, applicability is absent in principle.
Shooting convenience
In the "Lynx" spoils the whole terrible descent system only with the help of self-cocking, unacceptable for guns. The force is about 7-8 kg. The trigger stroke is small, with a warning. The pulling force is uneven. But it could have been completely fulfilled even at the limit of 3.5-4.5 kg and without warnings. As a result of such a descent, the level of accuracy of the shooting is significantly degraded, and shooting with one hand is generally unlikely. In addition, the self-platoon has a fairly large technical shot time.
TOZ-106 specifications has the following. The descent is usual for a bolt gun, with a large free wheeling, which does not cause inconvenience. His technical shot time is much longer. The balance with the butt of this gun folded makes the process of shooting from it with one hand quite comfortable. What can not be said about the "Lynx", because the balance (in both cases, it means the balance of guns with the butt out - otherwise they will not shoot without alterations), due to the long length and the barreled magazine, the presence of 12 gauges and enhanced descent, almost completely exclude the possibility of firing with one hand. This means that, unfortunately, it cannot turn out to be any semblance of a pistol from the Lynx.
Recharging 106-TOZ with your right hand is extremely easy. For a convenient reloading process, the shutter must be rubbed on its own, because the plant does not do this, as a result, the shutter of the new instance walks either very tightly or jerkily.
Aim
Each of the models does not have an aiming bar. “Lynx” and TOZ have open sights in the form of a front sight or in the form of a rear sight, and the formatting unit is devoid of both of them (a protrusion of a removable swivel, the width of which is no more than 5 mm, can be used as a front sight). The "Lynx" sight is rougher than that of the TOZ and the rear sight has a backlash of up to 0.5 mm (the rear sight is one of the components of the locking device of the gun butt). For OF-93 you will need to install the front sight yourself.
Aim, as well as lead the target from the TOZ is quite convenient. Offhand with a good level of applicability is possible only when the barrel is lowered down, and the butt is pre-embedded in the shoulder in the type of retention of the gun in special forces. According to the subjective feeling, many users noted that aiming from the TOZ is more convenient than from a short modification of the Saig model not equipped with an aiming bar. Although, of course, there are owners who do not like the butt of this gun.
The choice of weapons is a purely personal affair of everyone and depends on preference. Most owners prefer to make tuning after purchasing the TOZ-106, and there are plenty of opportunities for this.
