Replacing a passport in case of damage to this document is a mandatory procedure. Unfortunately, not a single person is safe from this. The passport can suffer at the hands of young children, pets, you can accidentally pour water on it and it will become worthless.
Passport Damage
Quite often, a person cannot determine whether to use the document further or not. Situations arise when a citizen believes that everything is fine with him, but meanwhile they refuse to accept his passport as an identity card in all institutions and organizations. So, we will determine when you need to replace the passport with damage:
1. Violation of the integrity of the document. This refers to the absence of pages or parts, covers, photos, torn, shabby or damaged sheets.
2. Visible spots and other damage that occurred when exposed to fire, chemical aggressive substances or other factors that led to unreadable parts of the document.
3. The passport is changed if it contains third-party notes, marks or figures.
Most often, problems arise due to the third paragraph. For example, a child put a small dash on a blank page - and thatβs all, a document is already considered invalid by law. It is useless to prove the opposite, therefore, if you notice extraneous records, it is better to immediately exchange it to avoid further problems.
Penalty for damage to a passport
Replacing a passport with damage is not always accompanied by penalties. In fact, administrative punishment is imposed only in case of intentional damage to the document, and it is very difficult to prove it. Unless you yourself indicate in the application that you spoiled your passport knowingly. In this case, at the discretion of the employee, you can receive an oral warning or an order to pay a fine of 100-300 rubles.
In the event that the fine was unlawfully issued, you can appeal to the FMS employee to his direct supervisor, to a higher authority (UFMS) or to the court.
