Responsibilities of the class teacher
According to V. Voronoi, the author of textbooks covering planning, the class teacher needs to have specific knowledge and skills. The requirements for the activities of such a teacher are determined by the goals and measures of education in a modern school.
The responsibilities of the class teacher can be attributed to three groups: educational, organizational and administrative and coordinating.
Educational functions are expressed in the pedagogical guidance of the development and formation of both the classroom community in general and the individuality of each individual student. Organizational and administrative responsibilities include managing a team as an organizational unit within an educational institution, maintaining personal records of students, reporting and other necessary papers, and maintaining documentation. The coordination function of the class teacher is to ensure interaction between students, subject teachers and other representatives of the teaching staff of the educational institution, parents or legal representatives of the students.
Planning educational work in the classroom belongs to the category of organizational and administrative responsibilities. The implementation of the plan in practice is already included in the educational functions of the pedagogical worker (with elements of coordinating at the moments where it is planned to interact with participants in the educational process).
Key types of student work plans
Planning is of exceptional importance in the work of not only the head of the classroom team, but also of the educational institution as a whole. Teachers, as a rule, in the process of professional activity are engaged in the preparation of two types of plans: calendar and perspective. A mixed perspective calendar plan is also distinguished.
A long-term plan for the educational work of the class teacher is formed for a long period, that is, for the academic year or six months. Scheduling reflects the list of works for a shorter time period: day, week, month, quarter. This type of educational plan of the class teacher is more extensive, includes specific actions, and not general areas of activity. The long-term calendar differs at the same time and a wide temporal coverage and specificity.
A school-wide educational work plan is compiled separately. The class teacher is recommended to adhere to the general plan when developing a document for the class.
The plan of educational work indicates the guidelines of the activity, the content and terms of the educational work, the guidelines of the class teacher. The document provides a systematic, purposeful organization of the work of teachers in an educational institution. In addition, classroom planning, the implementation of the educational plan and subsequent analysis contribute to the professional development of the teacher.
Class planning
Starting to plan work in the classroom, the head must properly prepare for the preparation of the document. So, it follows:
- To get acquainted with regulatory legal acts, legislation defining the tasks of educational institutions at the present stage. These include the provision on classroom leadership, the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Law on Education, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the charter of an educational institution.
- To study special (methodological) literature, which contains information on the planning of various types of educational work.
- View a school-wide educational plan. The class teacher should pay attention to activities in which students should participate.
- To collect and analyze proposals for planning work for the school year from subject teachers, class assets, other students and parents.
- To study the experience of other class teachers in an educational institution, to listen to the recommendations of colleagues and management.
- Conduct an analysis of the work for the past academic year (if any with the classroom documentation was kept and preserved).

The main stages of the formation of the plan
The educational plan of the class teacher should be carefully thought out and justified. The development of the document includes the following items:
- Analysis of last year's work plan. It is necessary to determine what has been done, what are the results of activities, on which to continue work in the current academic year.
- Feature classroom team. Social monitoring should be carried out, a characteristic should be drawn up according to such parameters as the general level of knowledge, skills, team cohesion, and class assets. The psychological characteristic of the team will not be superfluous.
- Definition of tasks for the school year, directions, forms and methods of work, deadlines.
An expanded explanation is needed for the last paragraph. The tasks of educational work, for example, may include the formation of a friendly team, the orientation of students on successes in educational activities, the development of good manners, the formation of a life position, the development of citizenship and patriotism, and so on.
As for the forms and methods of working with the class, here we can distinguish:

Goals and objectives of educational work
Education is called upon to create the conditions for the development of a responsible, moral, creative, proactive, competent citizen. The main directions of educational work planning for the class teacher consist in the patriotic education of students, the formation of healthy lifestyle skills among the younger generation, the creation of favorable conditions for the formation of student self-government, socialization of students in society, career guidance, and the prevention of crime and crime.
In the process of setting educational goals, the class teacher should consider the need:
- ensuring proper intellectual development of students;
- civic and patriotic education (introducing the young generation to the traditions and history of the small homeland, state, family and school);
- cultural and moral development (raising the level of culture and the realization of creative potential);
- aesthetic development;
- social adaptation of students (the formation of a value system, prevention and assistance in solving social problems, including in the family);
- organization of student self-government (the inclusion of students in the work of the class as an organizational unit in the school);
- vocational guidance of students (career guidance work with students and parents);
- joint activities with parents and social organizations.
The main directions and content of work with students
For the class teacher, the educational work plan is a guideline and allows not to miss a single important point. After forming the list of tasks, it is necessary to plan activities, the implementation of which will achieve the goals.
So, first you need to reflect in terms of school-wide events in which students should participate. This can be the organization and holding of the Day of Knowledge and the Last Call, a reporting concert, a concert for Teacher's Day, Health Days and so on. Then you need to think through activities dedicated to holidays, certain periods of the school year. For example, just in time for the beginning of the school year there will be a conversation “Learn to study” and organization class hours, before the winter holidays you should have a conversation about safety measures in the cold season and on ice, and the conversation “Respect for a woman” should be timed to coincide with the Eighth of March .
After compiling the list of compulsory activities, it is necessary to supplement the approximate educational plan of the class teacher with activities aimed at achieving goals (intellectual development, patriotic education, social adaptation, career guidance, work with parents and further on the list). For example, such events should be evenly distributed throughout the year:
- conversations about the dangers of smoking and drinking, drug addiction, early sex, protection from STDs and unwanted pregnancies;
- hiking, picnics, participation in sports, training evacuations;
- participation in subbotniks, general cleaning of the class;
- lessons of courage, talk about patriotism, tolerance;
- conversations about the culture of behavior, the organization of assistance to pensioners and veterans, the release of school wall newspapers;
- attendance control (daily);
- academic work: work with personal files, checking diaries, forming a class asset, class participation in competitions, extracurricular activities and so on.
Classroom teacher interaction with parents
The work of the team leader with the parent committee, guardians and parents of students consists in organizing and conducting parent-teacher meetings: school-wide and thematic in the classroom (organizational issues at the beginning of the school year, questionnaires, summing up the quarters, organizational meeting regarding the end of the school year).
It is also necessary to organize a parent committee, attract parents to school activities. Separately (if necessary) the class teacher holds meetings with parents, including parents of “difficult” children, and organizes communication with subjects.
Individual work with individual categories of students
Work with “difficult” students includes ascertaining the composition of the family, personal characteristics of students, updating data on “difficult” students. It is necessary to monitor the dynamics of academic performance, attendance, absenteeism, the child’s employment outside school hours, conduct preventive conversations, provide assistance to the student if necessary, and control behavior.
