A few years ago, a new category of dermatological protective products appeared on store shelves . They look like creams for hands or face, so it can be difficult to notice them among many cosmetic solutions. But despite the resemblance to creams, these products do not belong to makeup products (although they have something in common with it). Their main goal is to protect the skin, and care and hydration are secondary tasks.
Not for the mass market
Dermatological protection as a product category has existed for a long time; it is well known to employees of manufacturing enterprises. Here such products are called DSIZ, which in translation from a complex industrial language means “dermatological personal protective equipment”. In Russia, this niche appeared in 2004, when the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation “On Approving the Regulation on the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation” entered into force.
According to the document, the duties of the Ministry of Health included the approval of labor protection requirements and the norms of “free issuing of washing and disinfecting agents to employees” (the norms are spelled out in order No. 1122N). Simply put, the law obliged companies to provide professional dermatological facilities for their employees - not all, but only those who come into contact with hazardous substances or work in harmful conditions. Basically, the rules affect the enterprises of the oil refining, gas, transport, chemical, pharmaceutical industries - for example, Gazprom, Lukoil, etc.
For a long time, DSIZ were available only to employees at the plants: enterprises bought them in bulk and distributed them to workers in accordance with the standards. Several years ago, manufacturers thought about ordinary consumers: in everyday life, people are faced with the same aggressors, only in other manifestations.
What happens professional protection
Imagine: you work in a complex production - fuel, for example. You wear a helmet (by the way, also a means of protection) and gloves to keep your head and hands safe. But gloves often have to be removed: some work can only be done with bare hands. At the same time, harmful environmental factors do not disappear, and fuel oil and industrial oil stick to your hands, chemicals and temperature changes affect your skin.
Think about what happens to your hands after such contact. Hypersensitivity of the skin, irritation, inflammation first, dermatitis, folliculitis, eczema - then. In order to prevent workers from having such problems, the Ministry of Health, together with labor protection engineers, came up with a DEC - and forced them to be used in production.
Dermatological PPE are divided into three groups:
- Protective agents that are applied to the skin before starting work. These products are divided into:
- hydrophilic, which absorb moisture, moisturize the skin and makes it easier to wash oil and water-insoluble contaminants from your hands;
- hydrophobic, which repel moisture. They are used during contact with water, alkali, lime, acids;
- protection against natural factors: wind, UV radiation, low temperatures;
- disinfectants - for work in a bacterially dangerous environment;
- insect repellents.
- Cleansing pastes, gels, soaps - help to gently wash away from the skin what in ordinary life and with sandpaper you will not always erase. We are talking about engine oil, superglue, varnishes, paints, beet stains.
- Regenerating creams and emulsions. Their use does not guarantee that you will grow a finger on your hand, like a lizard’s tail. But the skin will recover faster after production stress: redness, irritation and dryness will pass, microcracks will heal.
Zest - in the composition
In people working in industries, due to constant contact with aggressors, skin sensitivity increases. It needs to be treated even more carefully, and even protect in a special way. Therefore, manufacturers of DSIZ include a lot of caring components in their products: vitamins, essential oils, antioxidant complexes, plant extracts. Some products do not contain silicones, parabens and dyes, which is also important for sensitive and allergy-prone skin.
But why do ordinary people?
Not all people need to run to the store for DSIZ - cosmetics can completely cope with skin care and moisturizing. But if contact with harmful substances has become a habit for you: for example, you wash dishes with fairies too often, paint with oil, dig in the garden on weekends and repaint the walls in the apartment every Saturday - in a word, if you are a hardworking professional in any business, and you really need to protect your skin in a special way, then the DDS will come in handy. For the price they can be compared with a good hand cream. Just pay attention to the instructions before using the tool, so that the money does not turn out to be simply wasted.
