In 2009, the military adventure series "When the Snow Melted" was released. During it, Arsenyev receives information of special secrecy. And soon the major offers her cooperation with state security agencies. Being expelled from the institute for false reporting, Anna agrees.
Arsenyeva receives a task during which he meets a German officer Walter von Rieden. Between them there is a feeling that will subsequently change the fate of both Anna and Walter. But the war begins. A Soviet girl and a German officer find themselves on opposite sides of the front line. Anna ends up in a concentration camp. There she meets with von Rieden, which, contrary to Anna's expectations, is not the last.
After the war, Walter writes a book about the love of a German submariner for a Soviet girl. He goes to the Soviet Union to find a linguist who can translate his novel into Russian. Von Rieden is recommended by Anna Kapustin. This is Arsenyev, who married a Soviet pilot. She brings up their common son, named after Walter - Valentine.
The fate of Alexei Kapustin is tragic. He commits suicide after he learns about who is the father of his adopted son. Walter is arrested for espionage.
