Insects attack: flea bites

Despite all our multifaceted knowledge about hygiene, flea bites are a “curse” to a large part of humanity. And we are not talking about the "elitist" part of a society such as homeless people. Even those people who closely monitor the cleanliness of their homes and take a shower daily can become victims of fleas.

Do fleas bite people? This question may confuse people unaware of this issue, and they will begin to make assumptions: yes, maybe / no, they only bite animals, etc. But those who are “lucky” to find out the answer in their own skin are likely to be outraged and with contempt (regret) will answer: “YES, they bite, and they bite very, very painful!”

Well, fleas are blood-sucking insects that choose both animals and humans as their victims. At risk, first of all, are small children and members of families in which there are pets. In addition, the inhabitants of old high-rise buildings, where the cellars are in terrible condition, are exposed to this scourge. The trouble is that getting fleas is quite difficult, and the likelihood of a recurring attack is very high.

Flea bites are quite painful for humans, especially these creatures are the waist, ankles, armpits, the inside of the elbows and knees. They have no wings, but they have the ability to jump very decent (for them) distances.

In addition to the discomfort that fleas cause to their victims, there is a danger of catching some kind of infection. For example, in an old damp basement where there is no one but rats, fleas attack the tailed rodents. But if a person enters the danger zone, fleas immediately behind the scenes announce the arrival of food and attack you, as they once attacked rats. Those, in turn, are carriers of various infectious diseases that can come to you from zealous bloodsuckers as a “gift”. In addition, flea saliva contains enzymes that can cause an allergic reaction in the victim.

Here's what's interesting: not all people are subject to flea attacks. Family members living in the same apartment can be divided into two camps: those whom fleas prefer not to touch for some reason, and those whom they choose as victims. No one was lucky! They will constantly twitch, feeling another bite, scratching the affected area, bringing their body to exhaustion, waking up at night - in a word, you will have to forget about a comfortable life. Probably the whole point here is the sensitivity of the skin. Flea sense of smell is a unique thing, therefore, if you have delicate thin skin (like a child's), then you are a real yummy for fleas, and your thick-skinned husband - in case access to the yummy is blocked for some reason.

“Cutaway” flea bites

Feeling their sacrifice, they jump on a person, settle down comfortably, gnaw through the jaws of the skin and secrete saliva, which contains enzymes and anticoagulants, and enjoy the blood that is sucked from you. Anticoagulants do not allow blood to clot, which allows fleas to absorb blood.

What do flea bites look like?

The bite is a red spot with a rim that can gape on the skin for several hours. In some people, flea bites can cause allergies, severe itching, or turn into a significant tumor. Small children are especially sensitive to flea bites, their reactions are manifested much more often than in adults. The most commonly affected lower limbs.

At first glance, the amusing confrontation between a 21st century man and an ancient insect actually turns out to be a serious problem. Flea bites literally bring a person to a state of hysteria, but this is only part of the problem. Getting rid of them is extremely difficult. Hygiene is not enough: these creatures breed too quickly. Feeling that they are in a “paradise” for fleas, they will try to do everything possible to stay here as long as possible.

You will have to carry out a general cleaning of the apartment, paying special attention to the cracks in the floor, skirting boards, the contact area of furniture and the wall, carpets, soft toys and, of course, the hygiene of pets that could bring infection to the house. Here you can’t do without a disinfection service, which will have to be called up repeatedly (at the first visit they will destroy the insects themselves, but after a few days a new batch of fleas from larvae will come into being, on which disinfection will not work).

The people worship wormwood as a means of scaring away these creatures. The smell of wormwood negatively affects fleas (if they are not mutant fleas), and they are removed away. It is enough to spread the plant twigs on the floor and wash the fields with a decoction of wormwood and laundry soap, you can use wormwood essential oil, if, of course, you yourself can tolerate the wormwood smell.
