The last in the dynasty - Martin Septim

One of the important pages in the history of Tamriel is the Septim dynasty. But nothing lasts forever, and this ruling clan, unfortunately, also ceased to exist. Unfortunately, there are no scientific works devoted to this emperor. The last representative of the dragon-born emperors was Martin Septim. What is this emperor famous for?

A brief history of the dynasty

The beginning of the dynasty falls on the period of the Second era. In 854, Tiber Septim, the founder of the dynasty, the founder of the Empire, was born. He united all of Tamriel in 896 of the Second Era under his rule. The Septim Dynasty ruled the entire Third Era.

Tiber Septim

In total, there were 22 emperors in the dynasty. Among the significant representatives of the genus, one can distinguish the powerful necromancer Potema, daughter of Pelagius II. She became the culprit of the Red Diamond War. An important role was also assigned to Uriel VII, who ruled the Empire for 65 years, strengthening its power. He played an important role in the prophecy of Nerevarin, the death of Uriel VII led to the Oblivion Crisis. Martin Septim became the last representative of the dynasty, heroically died during the Oblivion Crisis.

The Oblivion Crisis

One of the powerful princes of the daedra - Merunes Dagon - never abandoned attempts to break into Tamriel. The events that occurred in the year 433 of the Third Era were the third attempt to capture the mortal world. But while the dragonborn was sitting on the throne, the prince of the daedra could not realize the cunning plan.

The cult of Dagon - The mythical dawn planned everything very carefully: first, three sons of Uriel VII were killed, and then the emperor himself was eliminated. Although not everything went according to plan: the Amulet of Kings was rumored to be from an unknown prisoner, his cult failed to capture. Whether this fact is true is hard to say. Now the Order of the Blades is in decline, 2 centuries have passed since those events ... But something nevertheless prevented the Mythical Dawn from acting quickly and accurately. Moreover, no one knew that Uriel had an illegitimate son, Martin.

Martin Septim

After the Dragon Lights went out, the gates of Oblivion opened throughout Tamriel, and then Merunes Dagon himself entered the mortal world.

The role of Martin Septim

Joffrey's Blade knew of the whereabouts of Martin, who was a priest in the city of Kvatch. When the future hero of Kvatch arrived on behalf of the blade in the city to tell the bastard who he really is, the city was already besieged by the daedra. One way or another, on that fateful day when the city was completely destroyed, Martin found out about his origin.

In order to prevent the final daedra invasion, it was necessary to light the Dragon lights, crowning the heir. Then there was a galaxy of events. The mythical dawn stole the Amulet of Kings. To get it, I had to make a lot of effort, only the hero of Kvatch could cope with it. Sorry, his name is lost ...

Akatosh incarnation statue

Here is just one fact that again haunts historians. Why do some sources, even if not so famous, mention its connection with daedric art? Since when do scientists pay attention to such conflicting facts? And is this a fact at all? How could a simple priest open a portal to one of Oblivion's plans? This is a very complex magic that requires special training.

Be that as it may, Martin Septim's contribution is invaluable. The moment the Dragon Lights were to be lit, Merunes Dagon invaded Tamriel. Then Martin broke the Amulet of Kings, turning into a huge dragon - the embodiment of Akatosh. In this form, he was able to stop Dagon, albeit at such a high price - at the cost of his life. But from now on, the border was closed forever.

Historical monuments

As for the life of Uriel VII, his biography is reflected in the work of Rufus Hain. It’s easy to find out about Martin Septim’s feat in Skyrim (it’s not known how things are in other provinces). His biography is affected in Praxis Sarkorum's "Oblivion Crisis." Where else can you find out about Martin? They say that a madman in the Palace of Solitude here once mentioned his conversation with Sheogorath, in which the prince of Daedra called Martin the only worthy Septim.

Martin on fire

On the one hand, to believe nonsense and rumors is an unprofessional approach. On the other hand, Sheogorath is just connected with every kind of folly. Even here, Martin is surrounded by some puzzles.

Possible references to the last emperor outside Nirn

Perhaps Nirn is not the only habitat of people and measures. According to the testimonies of those who had a chance to talk with Septimius Segonius, he said that other worlds exist. And that even the pages of our history penetrate there, they even compose songs, there are some legends. What did he call them? Fan fiction? Martin Septim is also one of those about whom legends make in other worlds. And these legends live to this day.

Summarize. Martin Septim is an outstanding personality. Although most of his life was modest, in the Kvatch chapel, events were not recorded, as happens with the legitimate heirs to the throne, the events of the Oblivion Crisis manifold revealed him as a person, as a hero who could sacrifice himself for the life of his people, his country of the emperor. Right now, in difficult years for Skyrim, you need to remember such heroes.
