The Institute of Rheumatology is one of the few metropolitan medical institutions that are seriously engaged in the study of rheumatic diseases. Ultramodern treatment methods can get rid of these diseases, while the age of the patient does not play a role.
History
The Research Institute of Rheumatology was founded in 1958, then it was called the State Research Institute of Rheumatology under the Ministry of Health of the RSFSR. This institution owes its discovery to one of the largest scientists of that time - Academician A. I. Nesterov. It was he who made a huge amount of effort and was able to convince local authorities that Moscow would simply not be able to survive without such an institution.
The institute made a huge leap towards development in the early 1970s, it was then that Professor V. A. Nasonova became its leader. Valentina Alexandrovna managed in just a few years to turn the institute into the largest center of federal scale, which soon gained international significance. Today the institute bears the name of V. A. Nasonova, which had a huge impact on the development of the institution.
What are they doing here?
The Institute of Rheumatology (Moscow) conducts active scientific activity in several areas at once. First of all, we are talking about the study of rheumatic diseases, their pathogenesis and etiological factors. It is very important for modern physicians to correctly decipher the structure of existing autoantigens, which often cause these diseases. Recently, molecular genetic diagnostics is actively developing here, DNA microarrays are being created for the purpose of further testing and implementation in constant practice.
Great attention is paid to the creation of systems with which you can monitor arthritis - one of the most common diseases among Russians. In intensive mode, the institute is studying risk factors associated with a violation of the cardiovascular system and capable of provoking a fatal outcome. New research and prevention programs are introduced annually by scientists of the institute, first in Russia and then in world practice.
Specialists
Almost all the leading doctors of the Institute of Rheumatology, located on the Kashirskoye Highway in Moscow, have academic degrees. As of 2016, more than 35 doctors of science are working here, almost 80 doctors defended their candidate degree. About 25 specialists are just preparing to defend their scientific works, while having enormous practical experience. They are very serious about the preparation of scientific personnel, no more than 20 people are admitted to graduate school and residency annually, the number of places in doctoral studies is even less, only the most worthy specialists go there.
Most of the scientific work carried out at the institute is funded by the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, while the association actively publishes the work of teachers and students of the institution. Annually, representatives of the university protect up to 20 new medical technologies; in addition, they constantly send information about their inventions to patent offices and protect their own developments.
Scientific life
The Moscow Research Institute of Rheumatology constantly holds congresses of rheumatologists, which attracts specialists from all over the country. Numerous press conferences, meetings, symposia, scientific readings, mini-schools - all this is aimed at significantly lowering the threshold of morbidity among Russians and protecting them from health problems.
As of 2016, there are two departments within the institute that are engaged in research, trying to make scientific discoveries in the most important areas of rheumatology. Thanks to the work of the department’s specialists, modern treatment standards have been developed, adopted by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
Association of Rheumatologists
The Institute of Rheumatology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (Moscow) is part of the Association of Rheumatologists of Russia, a public organization that aims to bring together specialists from different parts of the country and give them the opportunity to exchange experiences. The association has more than 40 branches in the regions and continues to actively develop. The main goal of this community is the joint creation of the most relevant treatment methods, their testing in the regions and further analysis.
In addition, the ARP also has a humanitarian function. First of all, we are talking about organizing communities of those patients who have been suffering from rheumatic diseases for a long time. Patients can receive advice from specialists, as well as exchange experiences with fellow sufferers. Rheumatologists monitor the well-being of their patients and are actively working to create new treatment methods, partially testing it on their wards with the consent of the latter.
How to become a patient?
The Kashirka Institute of Rheumatology is open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. At this time, patients with rheumatic diseases can go there for help. First you need to make an appointment with an outpatient appointment, you can do this by calling on weekdays, from 9 to 16 hours, by phone at 8 (495) 662-50-40. You will be advised in detail on existing diseases, and will also be offered to visit the most suitable specialist. Please note: admission is by appointment only, patients with emergency attacks are best to contact other medical institutions.
The Institute of Rheumatology RAMS offers two types of treatment: outpatient and inpatient. In the first case, when contacting the institution, the patient will be able to get scientific advice, as well as paid medical care. The hospital is more convenient because doctors have the opportunity to conduct a full examination, to identify the presence / absence of diseases, and then, if necessary, to do their treatment. Also, the institute is actively engaged in the implementation of state tenders and provides specialized in-patient assistance for compulsory medical insurance.
Reviews
Patients who once visited the Research Institute of Rheumatology, speak about this institution quite positively. Doctors, in their opinion, approach their duties as responsibly and try as soon as possible to alleviate the pain that patients experience. Among the advantages of the institute are its convenient location.
Many patients complain that a large number of trainees may be present during surgical interventions in the operating room, which causes psychological discomfort. In addition, patients are dissatisfied with the fact that it is impossible to contact the institute with acute pain, as well as call specialists at home in case of a crisis.
What if the doctor sent?
If your attending physician, carrying out ongoing treatment, has noticed the presence of pathologies that require in-patient monitoring, he has the right to refer you to the Nasonova Institute of Rheumatology. You get a referral from your specialist, and then contact the institute’s administration.
Each referral of patients is reviewed by a scientific commission, which includes the staff of the institute, as well as consultants who monitor compliance with existing indications for hospitalization. After the decision is made, the commission notifies the patient by mail or telephone and offers him the most convenient treatment time, which should be carried out as soon as possible.
University Training Center
The Kashirka Institute of Rheumatology is also actively involved in the education of related specialists. Periodically, special training courses are held at the local training center on general medical problems faced by specialists of different profiles. In particular, we are talking about courses of modern rheumatic orthopedics, which are in demand among surgeons and traumatologists.
At the end of any training course, the Institute of Rheumatology issues to its students an appropriate certificate, which can then be used to confirm their qualifications or for further training. The center at the institute offers its students to learn from the experience of Russian and foreign scientists, get acquainted with the most relevant medicinal products, etc.
Conclusion

The university actively collaborates with colleagues from Italy, Portugal, France, Spain, the USA, Greece, Hungary and many other countries from different parts of the world. Due to this, it is possible to form a single media space in which you can create new methods for the treatment of rheumatic diseases.
