The drug "Coversil" - an analogue of "Prestarium"

Among the ACE inhibitors used in the treatment of hypertension and heart failure, the most famous is the French drug Prestarium. This medicine has a vasodilating effect. Its second name is Perindopril. In the pharmacy you can buy an analogue of Prestarium - the Coversil medication. There are other drugs similar to it - "Aceon", "Acertil", "Coversum", "Preksum".

Thanks to the use of any of these drugs, the elasticity of large arteries is restored in patients, the excess of subendothelial collagen, pre- and afterload on the heart are reduced, myocardial hypertrophy is reduced .

The active substance, which contains both the Prestarium analogue and the medicine itself - perindopril - has a beneficial effect on the heart, facilitating its work, decreasing the filling pressure of the ventricles, making the frequency of its contractions less frequent.

The drug Prestarium (tablets) is rapidly absorbed, and its maximum effect is already visible after four to six hours, while the pharmacological effect itself persists throughout the day. Perindopril is excreted through the kidneys.

Pressure with regular use of the drug stabilizes over the course of a month. Having stopped taking the drug β€œPrestarium”, the patient does not feel the withdrawal syndrome, the action of the ACE inhibitor does not stop abruptly. In more susceptible patients, stabilization of blood pressure occurs faster.

If this medication or an analogue of Prestarium (Aceon, Acertil, Coversum, Prexum or Coversil) is used in the treatment of heart failure, it is very important that the blood pressure is taken (as prescribed by the doctor) dose) does not change dramatically either after the first tablets, or after a longer use of the medicine.

Contraindications to the use of both the Prestarium pharmaceutical product and its analogues are:

  • age up to 15 years;
  • pregnancy;
  • lactation;
  • hypersensitivity to the active substance of the drug.

If this angiotensin-converting factor inhibitor is prescribed to a patient with renal failure, the doctor will prescribe a reduced dose and will periodically monitor the potassium content.

Any analogue of Prestarium, like the drug itself, has side effects. It:

  • labile mood;
  • sleep disturbance:
  • headache;
  • thrombocytopenia;
  • nausea;
  • asthenia;
  • dyspepsia;
  • dizziness;
  • allergic reaction;
  • cough;
  • hypogemoglobinemia;
  • vomiting
  • decreased potency;
  • decrease in the number of red blood cells;
  • cramps
  • violation of taste;
  • dry mouth.

Hypotension is a symptom of an overdose of Perindopril. In this case, the stomach is washed, saline is injected intravenously, and in a severe case hemodialysis is done, since the active substance of the drug is dialysable.

The usual dosage of the drug is 1 tablet per day, which is taken orally in the morning before meals. It should be borne in mind that taking medication with food inhibits the action of perindopril.

The initial dose for heart failure is 2 mg, and the maintenance dose is 4 mg. With hypertension, the dosage is slightly higher - 4 mg, if the treatment is slow and the effect is not visible, then after a month of therapy it is increased to 8 mg.

If the patient has stage 4 heart failure, low blood pressure, renal failure, or if it is an elderly person, it is recommended to start therapy with 2 mg.

The drug is produced in tablet form at 4, 5, 8 and 10 mg. The tablets are film-coated and packaged in blisters of 14 or 30 pieces each.

The medicine "Prestarium" refers to the list B. Vacation from pharmacies with a prescription.
