Sterilization of men - cruel revenge or a great alternative

Family birth control methods are often used only for women. It is women who take birth control pills, put spirals and bandage the fallopian tubes. Such injustice between the sexes has been equalized almost half a century ago.

So, for men, there is also the opportunity to protect yourself from the unwanted pregnancy of a partner, which was suggested by Chinese doctors. This is sterilization. The first tests were carried out by installing clips on the vas deferens. For such an innovation in the nineteen eighty-fifth year, European doctors seized on and developed an operation called a vasectomy. Since then, sterilization of men has become increasingly popular, especially in European countries.

As for the Slavic world, here opinions differ diametrically opposite. For some, this is a method to protect their partner from abortion and the effects of hormonal contraception, and for others, intervention in the holy of holies is the male intimate zone. Men, of course, least of all think about sterilization, since this operation itself, the disclosure of what such surgical intervention was, significantly reduce the self-esteem of men.

Male sterilization is reduced to the fact that the patency of the vas deferens is impaired , which means that there is seminal fluid, but there are no sperm in it. In this case, the hormonal background of the man is not disturbed - testosterone was both produced and produced after surgery. Men are sterilized using local anesthesia, the duration is only half an hour. The patient is prepared for surgery simply - they do a blood coagulation test, shave the hair in the intimate area and wash the genitals with a disinfectant solution. After the operation, significant scars do not remain, because the sutures are not overlapped. Sterilization of men usually does not give any postoperative complications. Only a few days after the procedure, the skin in the area of intervention can be worn, swollen and a little painful. In this case, it is recommended to apply ice to relieve swelling. The patient is released home on the same day and prescribed sparing regimen for a week and protected sex for three months (until all sperm cells that can fertilize the egg are gone). For reinsurance it is recommended to make a sperm sample for the presence of viable sperm in it. If there are none, you can safely not protect yourself and have sex without contraception.

Of course, one should not lose sight of such a complication as infection, inflammation of the appendages and hematoma, but such "troubles" are more likely an exception than a rule.

If for some reason the married couple wants children again, then here the question becomes rather sensitive. In principle, sterilization of men is reversible, but it all depends on several factors:

  1. what method was used for surgical sterilization;
  2. were there any complications during the rehabilitation period;
  3. how much time has passed since the operation;
  4. the age of the man, the presence of concomitant pathologies in the male genital area.

But even if all these points allow the reverse operation to restore the patency of the ducts, this does not mean that it will end successfully. It requires expensive equipment, a high-class surgeon and a firm decision to resume fertility.

In any case, the decision to sterilize the couple should be made carefully. For young couples, this method, as a rule, is unacceptable, it is often resorted to by people in a more mature age who already have children. In rare cases, with a vasectomy already performed, the ends of the flows grow together in six months, and the man is again able to become a father. Such errors are very rare, but they should be taken into account.
