The mere appearance in the credits of any picture of the phrase “Based on real events” plunges the viewer into a state of trembling anticipation. Needless to say, film stories taken from life, albeit largely embellished by their creators, in most cases have a greater chance of popularity compared to their fictional "brothers." Indeed, in our wonderful and diverse life, what just did not happen, and it was always human nature to learn from our own or others' mistakes, as well as from someone else's example. Therefore, there are a great many films based on historical facts or biographies of great people that allow you to plunge into the past or come into contact with the victories and defeats of famous personalities. There are hundreds, if not thousands. And our task today will be to compile lists of the best and most outstanding works with an indication of the peculiar rating of films based on real events.
The main criterion for our list will be an indicator of popularity, based on an assessment of one of the largest domestic Internet resources in the field of cinema - the KinoPoisk site. For convenience, we will indicate the rating of each of the films below in points next to its name.

"Legend number 17"
One of the best domestic masterpieces of recent years, the 2013 film "Legend No. 17", is an absolutely amazingly told life story of Valery Kharlamov, a true legend of Soviet and world hockey of the 70s.
The lead actor Danila Kozlovsky and the creators of the picture brilliantly managed to convey not only the character of this great hockey player, but also the patriotic spirit of the team, representing the honor of the entire Soviet Union. This tape was shot so that the viewer thinks that he is not in the auditorium or in front of the TV screen, but directly among the players playing between the USSR national team and Canadian NHL professionals of this, without exaggeration, ice battle.
The picture is charged with patriotism, making you proud of your homeland and the glorious athlete heroes who fought for it. Such a film as “Legend No. 17” is simply necessary for modern Russian society, which is beginning to forget about morality and high ideals.
The rating of the picture according to the popularity of the Internet resource "KinoPoisk" is 7.98.
"Once Upon a Time in Rostov"
The main roles in the twenty-four-episode television film Once Upon a Time in Rostov, which was released in 2012, were played by actors Vladimir Vdovichenkov, Sergey Zhigunov, and Alena Babenko.
This picture tells the story of the criminal activity of the well-known Rostov gang of the Tolstopyatov brothers, taking place against the backdrop of dramatic and little-known events in the history of the USSR, when on June 2, 1962, as a result of a decrease in wages with a simultaneous widespread increase in prices, a real riot of local residents blocking the railway occurred in Novocherkassk and office buildings. This protest led to a terrible tragedy - the mass shooting of a demonstration of citizens ...
It is known that the events of those days were successfully hushed up by the authorities, all witnesses gave a non-disclosure subscription and were silent for decades. Those who did not agree received long prison sentences ...
Rating series on the assessment of the popularity of the Internet resource "KinoPoisk" - 7.66.
127 hours
The film “127 Hours” of 2010 was based on the autobiographical book of Aron Ralston, who in his youth used to never tell his relatives about where he was going once again to please his favorite hobby - climbing. One fine day, this habit and evil rock led to the fact that as a result of an accident his hand was tightly clamped by a huge boulder in one of the crevices of the Blue John Canyon, and Aron himself had no choice but to spend 127 hours of fear in this place and despair, without water and food, alone and without hope of salvation.

The only consolation of the unfortunate person who reinterpreted his whole life and values during these hours was a video diary in which he wrote down all changes in his condition, as well as words of love and farewell to his family and friends. It is noteworthy that the shooting of the film, the main role in which the actor James Franco played, was carried out directly at the very place where this incident occurred. Also, the creators of the picture were exactly recreated all the equipment of Aron Ralston, who was with him on the day of those terrible events.
The rating of the picture according to the popularity of the Internet resource "KinoPoisk" is 7.66.
The Balkan Frontier

The film opens up another classified page for the activities of one of the special forces of the GRU of Russia, which in those days was tasked to take control of a strategic facility - the Slatina airport in Kosovo - and protect it from attacks by terrorist brigades before the arrival of peacekeeping forces.
According to viewers, "Balkan Frontier" is one of the most powerful patriotic Russian films of recent times ...

"The man who has known infinity"
The creation of the film “The Man Who Knew Infinity” of 2015 was preceded by memoirs of the famous British mathematician Godfrey Harold Hardy (his role went to actor Jeremy Irons), who considered it an honor to meet an Indian self-taught mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, performed by well-known viewers in the lead role in the drama "Slumdog Millionaire" by actor Dev Patel.
The picture tells the story of life and the rise to scientific fame of an amazing guy who was born and raised in poverty in distant India and who managed not only to get to Cambridge University for his dream, but also to hit the whole scientific world of his time with almost one hundred and twenty formulas previously unknown to science.
Srinivasa Indian Ramanujan, a nugget genius of the early XX century, was a true legend of mathematics. He treated numbers and formulas as if they were notes and music. And the filmmakers brilliantly managed to reflect on the screen the entire depth and brightness of the personality of this extraordinary person.
