The horror of seeing truly scary characters is so contagious that millions of people around the world can easily succumb to it. Today we decided to recall those who gave us a lot of nightmares and paranoia. Those who, despite their creepy and frightening images, will forever remain a cult image in the world of cinema!
Freddy krueger
Let's start with the classics. How many people lost their sleep in 1984 after they first watched "A Nightmare on Elm Street" - it's scary to think! Was Freddy Krueger so scary character? Sure! But what really caused massive horror was the fact that Freddie could come to the heroes of the film in his sleep! Sounds creepy, doesn't it?
In addition to his nightmarish appearance, which was already able to frighten anyone to hell, this killer maniac was able to easily control the dreams of his victims, controlling their fears and exposing them to all kinds of suffering. Next time you plan to go to bed, think about Freddy Krueger!
Michael Myers
For many, this candidacy for the role of one of the most terrible horror characters may seem a bit far-fetched. Can this strange guy in a no less strange mask really scare someone? Believe me, maybe, and how. Michael Myers is one of the most famous fictional killer maniacs who conquered the cinema with his creepy appearance, irresistible force and, of course, a sharp knife. Myers debut took place back in 1978, in the film by the famous director John Carpenter "Halloween". The character’s image has become so cult that they still continue to make films about him, release various literature and create video games.
Samara Morgan
The next scariest character in horror films is best known for his second nickname, "Girl from the Well." We are talking about Samara Morgan - the main antagonist of the popular horror series "Call". After the first part of The Bell first appeared in movie theaters, the world began to truly be afraid of little girls in long white dresses and long black hair hiding their faces. For the success of such a classic image, Hollywood owes it to the Land of the Rising Sun, because it was Japan that shot the original series of Ringu films, which, in turn, was an adaptation of the novel of the same name.
Pennywise
Some of us love clowns, some are afraid of them, and some are Pennywise from the cult work of Stephen King's “It”. With the release of IT (2017), one of the most successful adaptations of the horror maestro, the fame of this clownish clown literally revived before our eyes! Few of the current generation are familiar with the serial film in which the role of Pennywise was played by the talented Tim Curry, which in itself is rather sad.
Without a doubt, Bill Skarsgård played a spectacular and truly scary character who returned to people the fear of clowns. However, it was Curry who was able to realize on the screen that mixture of crazy fun and chilling horror, which is the main component of the image of Pennywise. In any case, each version is impressive in its own way, and the clown from "It" is still a true embodiment of horror and one of the scariest characters in the movie.
Jaw Shark
Together with this challenger, we decided to diversify our today's list of scary movie characters, which is dominated by various killer maniacs and humanoid monsters. At the time, the very shark that swam onto the screens of cinemas straight from Stephen Spielberg’s grand jaw "Jaws" was able to instill a sense of wild horror in the hearts of many people. It can be assumed that the image of this ideal killer brought little good to how people perceived (and still perceive) real sharks. Few people can remember the famous scenes from this film without being shuddered by horror. However, the fact that Jaws have become a true icon in the world of movie nightmares cannot be denied.

We tried to single out the five of the "best" heroes of horror movies that they fear and are talked about more and longer than anything else. However, it is simply impossible to dwell only on them, because there are so many other worthy applicants around us! Here are some of them:
