There are qualities that every person wants to possess. And we are not talking, for example, about the mind. The last quality of man is too abstract. Whom to recognize as clever and who not? First of all, we are interested, but what is resourcefulness? And it is absolutely fair. Cunning means the ability of a person with apparent ease to get out of difficult and sometimes dangerous situations. Why with visible? Because not everything that seems easy is actually like that.
Is resourcefulness a natural quality?
In addition to the definition, it’s interesting, but resourcefulness - what is it in itself, does a person possess it from birth or gain in the process of life, training and improving? There can be no single answer to this question.
Another thing is obvious: a person who is not able to learn quickly and productively cannot be resourceful. But the mind is not the only factor in the sharpness and quick wits of a man or woman. And to prove it is not difficult. Imagine the image of a classic scientist. The man is probably in a white coat, horn-rimmed glasses with thick glasses, is very focused on the subject of research, is taciturn, and not inclined to communicate. Can a scrupulous researcher be called resourceful? It is unlikely. And why? Because the speed of decision-making is in no way connected with this image. A person may be seven spans in the forehead, but not be resourceful. This is a disappointing result for the entire learned tribe. Whoever asks about resourcefulness, what kind of quality is this, the answer is not so simple. One thing is clear: the ability to think quickly and make the right decisions stands on three pillars:

It is also symbolic that it was in our country that such a telecast appeared, where people (mainly students) competed in quick wits and humor - KVN. Now the idea that people can be measured by a sense of humor has left Russia and wanders around the world. KVN is played in the USA, CIS, Israel and other countries.
In the TV show, the main character is a student (an example of resourcefulness), and the average one. He is not very smart (compared to the current scientist or academician), but he is extremely quick-witted. One problem with these guys: representatives of the “student asset” are usually extremely weak in systematic education. There is nothing to be done, the creative component of the personality absorbs most of the body’s resources. True, there are probably exceptions when people play KVN, but at the same time in good standing with teachers. But such instances break the idea of the image of a student who is average studying and is always hungry, but at the same time extremely sneaky, and resourcefulness (what this is, we are discussing in detail today) is his middle name.
If we talk about ingenuity, then for a Russian student (or one who has completely assimilated in Russia) it consists primarily of intuition and determination, and the mind plays an instrumental role. Further we will consider some examples of resourcefulness.
Harry Potter and company as a collective image of the ideal hero
If we adhere to those components of ingenuity that we indicated above, then an experienced viewer will easily decompose Potter's ingenuity into three elements:
- Ron Weasley is an intuition.
- The mind is Hermione Granger.
- Decision goes to Harry according to the residual principle.
Together, this trinity is very savvy, but individually, they probably would have felt lonely and abandoned. Thus, if someone asks: "resourcefulness, what is it?" - you can paradoxically answer: "These are the heroes of the Harry Potter saga, but certainly all together."
Dr. House as a personification of pure intuition
If the idols of children and adults represent the ideal of resourcefulness together, then Dr. House is an embodied superman who has a developed level of will, intuition and reason. In addition, the charismatic doctor has fantastic observation. It is clear that all television detectives have one ancestor - Sherlock Holmes. And in one of the films on his behalf, Robert Downey Jr. said: "Observation is my curse." And it is true. Sherlock had a photographic memory, but this is not only a curse, but also a weapon in the fight against criminals.
Now, for unknown reasons, the detectives of the classical type were in the pen. Now it’s more interesting for people to look at heroes-doctors who constantly save lives or courageously help a patient die. If a person asks: "But an example of resourcefulness - who is this?" - you can safely refer to Dr. House.
Is it possible to develop resourcefulness in oneself?
To answer this question, we turn to another detective, this time of the classic sample - Lieutenant Colombo. In one of his investigations, the policeman was looking for the one who committed the “highly intellectual murder”. At the very end of the series, Colombo admits that when he came to the police, he was not the smartest and smartest. Perhaps if then the lieutenant was asked about what resourcefulness is, he could not give examples. But is that really important? All that matters is what Colombo became in the end. How did he do it? Industriousness. The lieutenant gives such a recipe for the development of quick thinking:
- Be more persistent than the rest.
- Be careful of the rest.
- Read the rest more.
- And never give up.
It is already clear that the meaning of the word “resourcefulness” is not so easy to decipher and resourcefulness as a phenomenon or quality grows on different soils. It can be both God's gift and the result of the efforts of man himself. Of course, when a person earns something by labor and patience - it is difficult, but also more valuable than a gift of fate. An intuitive ability can leave a person at any moment, while an ability that develops consciously will remain with the person forever. In addition, it is not visible from the side how a person finds a solution in a difficult situation - intuitively or not, the main thing is the result. Remember, that book (or article) that is easy to read, hard to write. So it is with everything else in the world: the more amazing the result, the more effort is put into it.
