What is the norm of weight?

The norm of weight is a relative concept. And it is directly related to the type of physique: asthenic - thin (narrow chest, long arms and legs), normosthenic - medium build (musculature is quite developed), hypersthenic - people are broad-shouldered, have a predisposition to fullness.

It is not difficult to determine your body type : grasp the wrist of the other with the thumb and middle finger of one hand and squeeze it tightly. Asthenic (brittle) - fingertips overlap, normosthenic (athletic) - only touch each other, hypersthenic (strong) - do not touch.

weight rate

Using the Brock index, an approximate calculation of the weight norm will be as follows: growth (in cm) minus 100-110.

More precisely, the weight norm is calculated: body weight (in kg) divided by height (in m) and squared - this will be the body mass index, which characterizes the weight and its deviations. A BMI of 20 to 25 is considered the norm, less than 19 - exhaustion, more than 26 - the weight is somewhat excessive, 31-40 - moderate obesity, more than 41 - morbid obesity, accompanied by complications. However, one cannot blindly rely on the index: athletes, for example, have large muscle mass in their body tissues, and may have a BMI above 26.

The ratio of the waist (in cm) to the volume of the hips (in cm) is an important characteristic, but rather reflecting the appearance and slimness of the figure, more relevant for women. Good indicators are considered: for women - less than 0.8, for men - less than 0.9 (after 40 years, slightly more - 0.85 and 0.95, respectively).

The amount of visceral fat is the waist circumference, measured in centimeters. The norm is considered no more than 88 for women, and no more than 102 for men.

fetal weight

The weight norm in children, of course, cannot be calculated on the basis of the above parameters: the child is growing, and these basic anthropometric indicators of development (height and weight) are constantly changing. There can be no strict standards for children - everything is individual, and depends primarily on the gender of the child and heredity. Since the inception of a new life, all indicators are only approximate: the norms of the weight of the fetus in a pregnant woman depend on the quality of her nutrition, lifestyle. It affects the weight and height of the baby and whether it is breast-fed after birth and for how long: as you know, in this case it develops more harmoniously than the β€œartificer”. Some guidelines, of course, exist, and according to them, doctors determine the age development of children, and they are presented in centile tables. These are currently tables developed by WHO in 2006.

I would like to return to adults and emphasize that if a person calculates according to the formulas that although his BMI is within the normal range, there are 5 extra pounds, one should not rush into the decision to go on a diet. Most likely, you only need to slightly reconsider your diet and begin to lead a more mobile lifestyle, and the norm of weight will correspond to the ideal!

weight calculation

Just do not force yourself, the activity should be fun: for example, the ideal solution is dancing, and the pool just works wonders. After analyzing, everyone will be able to find an active holiday at will.

And most importantly, that you are healthy and happy with your life!
