In 2012, one of the most talked about comedies was a picture by director Seth MacFarlane entitled "The Third Extra". She is considered his debut in terms of full-length film works and immediately liked the audience. The highlight of this tape is the combination of a comedy genre with fantasy elements in it. The bottom line is that in the movie "The Third Extra" the actors are living people, but one of the main and brightest characters is played by a teddy bear. From here came the phrase that briefly describes the picture: in love, not without a bear.
The plot of the film
We are talking about a boy, John, who since childhood dreamed of real friends. But he didn’t have those until his unusual wish for Christmas came true. On the eve of the holiday, the guy planned that his favorite toy - a teddy bear - could talk and communicate with him. Since then, the bear named Ted and the hero John have made great friends, but as the boy grows up, this friendship has already begun to become a problem. Ted has bad habits: he smokes grass, goes wild and does not want to grow up. The strange thing is that in the movie "The Third Extra" (the actors of the film will be examined by us later), the characters in the plot do not pay any attention to such "non-standard" behavior of a plush toy.
And then one day the fun comes. John falls in love with a beautiful girl named Lori, which practically puts the hero before a choice. Now he has to think well and decide who is dearer and dearer to him: Ted's best friend or lover.
Cast
Actors of the "Third Extra" were selected by the director and the whole team very carefully. This was especially true for leading actors - John Bennett and Laurie Collins. They were played by world-class stars - Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis, who have long been known to viewers for their roles in other films. Wahlberg became a movie star primarily due to the sensational drama “Night in the Boogie Style”, after the release of which he became popular. In addition, the actor successfully starred in "Planet of the Apes", "Perfect Storm" and many others.
Mila Kunis is no less famous for her acting talent. One of the most memorable paintings by critics noted her role in the film "Black Swan", for which the actress received the Saturn Award.
In 2015, the sequel to the comedy project "The Third Extra" was released. Actors and roles have changed, and new faces have appeared. And more specifically, in the second part Mila Kunis is no longer involved. According to the script, they part with John, after which the hero sets off in search of a new relationship.

Opinions of cinema experts regarding comedy tape were divided. Some speak positively about the project as a whole and consider its plot quite original. Others point to some flaws on the part of the creators. So there are opinions that in the movie "Third Extra" the actors and roles are not distributed in the best way: they do not correspond to the age of the characters and do not reveal the atmosphere of humor.
However, for the most part, both critics and viewers took the picture positively. This is evidenced by the fact that the budget of the tape, which amounted to more than five hundred million dollars, paid off 11 times. Thousands of moviegoers from different countries visited the halls where the Third Extra was shown.
As for the awards, the film won the “Top Box Office Films” nomination and received an award from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Creators. In addition, in one of the categories the comedy was nominated for Oksar.
The strange thing is that in the movie “The Third Extra”, the actors who performed the remaining roles, in the story, do not pay any attention to such non-standard behavior of a plush toy.
