This very young, but already eminent athlete won her first significant victory in international competitions in 2006 at the World Cup. She took part in junior competitions when she was only 14 years old. Olga Vilukhina then won not only the sprint, but earned two more medals: in the relay - silver, in the pursuit - bronze.

Olga Vilukhina: photos, first victories
Olga's permanent coach is Valery Ivanov, now a common-law husband.
As noted above, the first significant victory for the athlete was at the World Junior Biathlon Championships in 2006, held in America (Presque Isle). There, she did not have just an individual race, where she took 26th place. In these competitions, she fought with athletes of a high international level. It should be noted that at that time Vilukhina was engaged in biathlon for only 2 years.
The next major competition for her was in Martello, where the Biathlon World Championship was also held. But here she could not repeat her previous result and won a silver medal (second place) in the relay race.
The most successful in the sports career of a talented athlete was the European Championship, held in Ufa (2009). Then Olga Vilukhina became four times European champion among young athletes. At these junior competitions, the girl was able to climb the podium in all 4 stages of the competition, taking 1st place.
The magnificent successes did not go unnoticed by the representatives of the country's national team. She was invited to take part in competitions in Khanty-Mansiysk (Cup stage). Thus, she was on the lists of the six best athletes and entered the team of the Russian team.
Further success
As part of the Russian national team, the girl first went to Oberkhov to train for training, where she suddenly fell ill. In this regard, she never took part in any race of the Cup and even missed some stages of the IBU Cup. In the 2010/2011 season, Olga again took part in the very first stages of the World Cup, and then her health failed again.
After illness, Vilukhina twice won leading places in sprints, held in Italy and Sweden. But at the IBU Cup, Olga Vilukhina was left without a prize because of an absurd oversight, carelessness. She forgot to put on her number, and while running after him, the athlete started with a hitch and was delayed for 40 seconds. Exactly this time and separated her from the winner of the competition.
Season 2011-2012 brought the athlete success. In Hochfilzen, she won with the team in the mixed relay and took bronze in the race at Ruhpolding.
In 2013, biathlete Olga Vilukhina climbed to 2nd place at the World Cup.
Olympic Games in Sochi 2014"
The Sochi Olympics is the first Olympic Games for a 25-year-old athlete. In this regard, no one really had any hope in her. However, she surprised many when she won Olympic silver at the 7.5-kilometer race.
She felt quite confident and did her best to keep up with the titled Slovak Olympic champion Anastasia Kuzmina. Viluhina, shooting perfectly, lost to Kuzmina only in speed.
The capable Olga Vilukhina in the end repeatedly went up to the podium after winning the relay team races (both female and mixed). By right, she is a regular in the TOP-10 of the best athletes in Russia. True, she has not yet reached the individual award of the highest standard. She is still ahead.
