The term "teenage gynecomastia" means a sharp increase in the mammary glands due to thickening of adipose tissue. This physiological event does not require the intervention of doctors, however, sometimes it can be accompanied by soreness, as a result of which special drugs are prescribed to patients.
If gynecomastia in adolescents does not go away on its own for two years, then the adolescent needs to pass a special analysis that will identify certain violations in sex hormones, or conduct an ultrasound examination and mammography.
Types of gynecomastia
Gynecomastia in adolescents is divided into four types: physiological, idiopathic, symptomatic and false.
Physiological gynecomastia is associated with age-related changes in the teenage body, as a result of which the production of the female hormone estrogen increases sharply in it .
The causes of idiopathic gynecomastia are not known to medicine until now. This type of gynecomastia is amenable only to surgical intervention, accounting for 50% of all diseases.
Symptomatic gynecomastia - gynecomastia, which develops as a result of other symptoms and diseases. For example, it can occur due to abnormal activity of the endocrine system, disruption of the testes, problems with the kidneys and liver. Sometimes symptomatic gynecomastia in adolescents occurs as a side effect due to the use of dietary supplements.
False gynecomastia in adolescents is not associated with hormones and occurs as a result of obesity in obese children. Sometimes it is caused by benign or malignant tumors.
Gynecomastia - causes
Gynecomastia can occur as a result of poor secretion of androgens or gametogenesis ( hypogonadism ). In this case, the teenager is prescribed such drugs that contain male sex hormones: for example, Omnadren, Sustanon, or Chorionic gonadotropin. Gonadotropin is administered intramuscularly every five days, omnadren and Sustanon every twenty days, not more than one milliliter.
80% of the effectiveness can be achieved thanks to the Androgel preparation, which contains testosterone. It must be rubbed into the skin every day.
The course of taking dietary supplements that are used simultaneously with drug treatment is 3-4 months. Good results are also observed when using bee pollen - a substance containing a rich protein-vitamin complex and obtained from polyfler pollen from different plants.
Another cause of gynecomastia is a malfunction of the thyroid gland. In this case, the patient is prescribed medicines and sedative herbs . Of particular popularity are drugs such as tincture of valerian or motherwort. There are also many drugs in tablets that contain herbal ingredients.
Gynecomastia also occurs due to the use of narcotic substances. Hemp, opium and other drugs that are traditionally considered “light” and even “medicinal” dramatically increase the mammary glands.
If gynecomastia is observed in adolescents, the treatment described above should not be postponed.
The need for surgery
Surgical intervention is used in cases where for the six months of the use of medications the patient does not show the slightest improvement in health. With this operation, the patient is anesthetized and a complex incision is made on the chest.
Usually, small scars remain on the breast after surgery, which can be avoided if fat suction (lipoxation) is used. With this procedure, the patient does not have traces of the operation, and after its completion he is able to immediately go home.
