“You Never Had A Dream” (1980 film)

The premiere of the melodrama took place in March 1981. In the first year, about 26 million viewers watched it. According to a survey of the magazine "Soviet Screen", the picture was the best of those that came out over this period.

The director “You Never Had A Dream” made a film based on the story of G. Shcherbakova, which was called “Roman and Yulka”. The story of her own son inspired the woman to write the story. As a ninth-grader, he climbed a drainpipe to the sixth floor to his beloved girlfriend. The boy left a note for his lover on the balcony, and when he began to descend, the pipe suddenly fell off. No one was hurt, but the story was remembered for a lifetime. What is the difference between the content “You never dreamed of”, a summary of which you will find in this article, from the real story that happened with the son of Galina? And what happened to Roman (Nikita Mikhailovsky) in real life?

Katya and Roma

Summary “You never dreamed”

Since the new school year, the girl Katya is moving to a new school, as her mother and stepfather got a new apartment in another district of the city. A girl’s classmate is a boy named Roma, whose father many years ago was in love with Katya’s mother - Lyudmila Sergeevna.

The guys get acquainted, and sympathy arises between them. The feeling between Roma and Katya is not like the love that is typical for their age, it is much deeper and stronger. However, Roman’s mother does her best to separate the lovers. First, she does not allow her son to communicate with Katya, and then completely takes his documents from school. The young man in love does not give up his positions and continues to see his classmate. To completely separate the children, Vera Vasilyevna sends her son to another city, where his grandmother lives, who allegedly needs care.

Katya, learning about what is really hidden behind the current situation, goes to Roma to talk with him, but a tragedy happens here. The young man, seeing the girl from the window, in the heat of a quarrel with his grandmother, who tried not to let him out on the street, accidentally slips on the windowsill and falls down. The fall of Roma softens the snowdrift. Katya runs up to him and helps to get up.

Who played the role of the girl Katie?

Famous Soviet artists such as Irina Miroshnichenko (Katya’s mother), Albert Filozov (Roma’s father), Elena Solovey (class teacher), Leonid Filatov (classroom teacher’s groom), Lidia Fedoseeva-Shukshina (Roma’s mother), Evgeny Gerasimov (such as Roma) played in the melodrama Katya's stepfather), as well as Tatyana Peltzer, who played the role of Roman’s grandmother.

The main characters of “You Never Had A Dream”: Tatyana Aksyuta, who appeared in the film as the girl Katya, and Nikita Mikhailovsky, who played the role of Roman. When the girl was offered to play the main role in the melodrama, Tatyana was already 23 years old. To the surprise of most viewers, by that time she had graduated from university and was a married woman. However, due to her miniature, she looked much younger than her age.

At the moment, the actress is 61 years old. She worked almost all her life at the Russian Academic Youth Theater. The Soviet TV viewer was remembered for her roles in The Tale of Wanderings and the melodrama “You Never Had A Dream” (a summary of which is presented in the article), where she played young girls.

Tatyana Aksyuta

Tatyana Aksyuta is married to the Russian music television producer, director and broadcaster Yuri Aksyuta. They have a daughter, Polina, who graduated from the Literary Institute in Moscow, and then the historical and philological department of the Sorbonne University in Paris.

The tragic fate of Roman (Nikita Mikhailovsky)

When Nikita was invited to shoot the picture, he really was 16 years old. He was born in the family of a director and a model. But his parents divorced when he was barely 3 years old. Mom got married a second time, and the famous St. Petersburg director V. Sergeev became Nikita's stepfather.

The role of Roma became for Nikita a ticket to the world of Soviet cinema. The young man was prophesied a wonderful future, but it seemed that acting glory greatly weighed Mikhailovsky. Nikita played together with A. Batalov, N. Karachintsev, V. Glagoleva, N. Ozhelite and other famous artists. However, at the peak of popularity, the actor suddenly stopped acting and, in the literal sense, went underground.

Nikita Mikhailovsky

And in the 90th year, Nikita was diagnosed with leukemia, so the artist very soon had to go abroad for treatment. He needed a bone marrow transplant, funds for which were collected by the whole world. But, alas, the operation did not bring proper results, and in 1991, at the age of 27, the artist passed away, leaving his son and daughter.
