The national flag of Algeria has existed not so long ago. But to find out its meaning and origin will still be interesting to everyone who is interested in this African country.
Modern look
The panel now used was adopted on July 3, 1962, when residents gained independence from France by voting for sovereignty in a referendum. What does the flag of Algeria look like? It is a rectangle whose length refers to the width in a proportion of three to two. The blade is vertically divided into two parts. The one located at the pole is made in a saturated green color. The second part is white. In the center, the flag of Algeria is decorated with a red crescent moon with a five-pointed star of the same color. Sometimes it is also supplemented with a coat of arms - on the emblem is the name of the state, written in Arabic. The center also houses the rising sun, under which they depict the hand of Mohammed's daughter.
Value

Each symbol and color that the flag of Algeria uses has its own meaning. For example, the image of a hand with an emblem is traditional for the countries of the Maghreb region. The sun rising above it serves as a symbol of a new era in the history of the state. In the official version, the flag does not include the coat of arms, but even then it is filled with deep meaning. For example, green symbolizes the main religion, practiced by almost all residents of the state. White color is a sign of pure thoughts and aspirations of citizens, as well as hopes for justice and a better future. The red crescent moon decorating Algeria's flag in the center belongs to Muslim symbols. Often the same emblem can be found on other banners throughout the Middle East and North Africa. The same applies to the meaning of colors, but in each country shades are used in different combinations, which ensures uniqueness. The naval standard looks almost identical - it is supplemented only by the image of two crossed anchors at the pole, on a green field.
Appearance story
Before the government adopted the modern flag, a slightly different option was used. The cloth was also divided into two parts, but they were of different sizes. The pole, as now, had a green stripe, it was already running, and at the edge was a white, wider one. At the intersection there was an emblem with a red crescent and a red five-pointed star, similar to that used now - the difference is only in its location on the canvas.
