French movie star Emmanuelle Riva was born on February 24, 1927. This is not the real name of the actress, in fact her name is Polett Germain Riva. Place of birth - the town of Chenimenil, Latorginia region (now it is the Grand Est region), located in the northeastern French province of Vosges.
Mother was a housewife, and father was engaged in the manufacture of road signs. Prior to acting, Paulette managed to work as a seamstress. She takes her first steps in art at a young age on the stage. When Paulette turned 26, she decided to move to the capital of France - Paris. Here she enters the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art. Paulette Germain Riva, being an aspiring actress, changes her name to Emmanuel. It seems to her more suitable for a future movie star.
Fame
Emmanuelle Riva played her first major role in 1954. It was a play staged on the weapon of the same name by George Bernard Shaw, "Weapons and Man." Her talent was noticed by director Alain Renee, who invited the young actress to the role of Ally in the film "Hiroshima, My Love" (1959). This painting brought Emmanuelle Rivet great popularity. Nominations and victories
At the age of 87, Emmanuelle Riva played one of the most important roles in her life: an elderly music teacher in the movie Love, directed by Michael Haneke. According to the plot of the film, a stroke strikes her heroine. The skill of the actress was so high that in 2013 she was nominated for an Oscar in the category "Best Actress", but Emmanuel did not receive the coveted award. But success was waiting for her at the Cesar Film Festival. She also received a prize for Best Actress from the European Film Academy and BAFTA.
