Benoit Costil was born on July 3, 1987 in France, in the city of Caen, with which an impressive part of his career will be connected. At six, he joined the tiny Bretteville Club’s football academy, but spent only one year there. In 1994, he was screened at the largest club in his hometown of Kan and was accepted. As a result, Costil spent eleven years in the system of this club, and in 2005 signed a professional contract with him. But there was no place for him at the base - at first the goalkeeper played for the club's double, and then he began to fall into the application of the main team as a reserve goalkeeper. For three years, he entered the field only ten times, which did not suit the young gate guard. In 2008, the club decided to give him a chance and sent him on loan. The next season Benoit Costil spent in the club “Vannes”.

Benoit Costil is a football player whose career began to develop far from the way he would like. In the “Bath” the situation improved a bit - he got a place at the base and played 27 matches, after which he returned to the “Kahn” in the hope that he would still get a game practice there. However, the club management was not impressed by the goalkeeper's appearances, so the contract with him was not renewed. Not a single strong club wanted to sign a contract with Costil, so he had to go to the Third Division to get an opportunity to play there.

Club "Sedan" from the Third Division of France signed a two-year contract with the goalkeeper, while giving him a chance to play at the base. Costil took full advantage of this chance - in two years he spent 76 matches, impressing many fans with his performances. Benoit Costil, whose photographs began to appear in various sports magazines of the country, became more and more famous. As a result, in 2011 he had a new opportunity to return to the top division - he signed a Rennes contract.

It was in Rennes that the goalkeeper got the opportunity to fully open up and show everyone that he is capable of much. Naturally, no one expected that all of a sudden Costil would turn into a top goalkeeper, who could help his club climb into the Eurocup zone, and also take a place at the gates of the French team. However, Benoit did not disappoint, and at his level he showed a brilliant game. As a result, in five years at the club Costil entered the field 204 times. With the club, of course, he did not win a single trophy, but helped him stay in the Top Division and achieve impressive results. In the current season, Costil has already played eight matches, in three of which he has not missed a single goal. His contract with Rennes is designed until the end of the current season, but the club hopes that it will be able to extend the agreement with the goalkeeper, who has been playing here for more than five years. However, it is not known whether Benoit himself wants to renew the contract - or whether he decides that it is time to go for an increase.

To date, Benoit Costil has not played a single match for the national team of France, and as for the youth teams, he only has two games on his account. However, this does not mean that no one is noticing him - Costil’s performances for Rennes were noticed back in 2014, when in October he received his first call to the national team. However, he was called only as the third goalkeeper, so he did not appear on the field - as in more than twenty subsequent matches to which he was called. Costil even went to the 2016 European Championship as a backup goalkeeper, but he also spent all the time there on the bench.
