Irina Kiseleva: biography of the famous Soviet athlete

The modern pentathlon, in which Irina Kiseleva showed herself, has been rapidly developing since the middle of the last century. Athletes compete in five sports: jumping (equestrian sports with overcoming obstacles), running, swimming, fencing and shooting.

Childhood

Kiseleva Irina Vladimirovna was born on July 23, 1967 in the city of Moscow. The girl was born in a sports family. The athlete's father is Vladimir Kiselev, a famous trainer of the USSR, a master of sports and part-time teacher of the Russian State University of Culture and Culture according to the modern pentathlon technique.

In childhood, Irina was very often ill, was a weak child. Her father’s main goal was to improve her daughter’s health. Arriving in sports, Irina Kiseleva really stopped getting sick often and began to achieve results very quickly. For her family, this was a pleasant surprise, because the achievements of the little athlete exceeded all expectations. According to Irina Kiselyova herself, the main reason for her success can be considered a strong character and good genes.

The beginning of a sports career

Irina Kiselyova’s career began at 13 years old. For sports, this is a late age. However, by the age of 16, a novice athlete entered the USSR national team. Being in this team, Irina became a four-time world champion.

In August 1986, Irina Kiseleva took gold in the world championship in modern pentathlon, which was held among women in Montecatini (France). Then the athlete was only 19 years old.

A year later, in 1987, a 20-year-old athlete took gold in another world championship in modern pentathlon, which was held in the city of Bainsham in Germany. Both medals were won in the individual championship. Then Irina Kiselyova was even included in the Guinness Book of Records.

Education and teaching

Sport did not stop Irina Kiseleva from getting an education. In parallel with her sports career, she studied in the city of Moscow at the State Institute of Physical Culture. This institute acquired the status of an academy, and since 2011 it has become a university.

Irina studied at the faculty of modern pentathlon, and she really liked it there.

In the third year, Kiseleva had the idea to engage in coaching. She began by teaching physical education lessons to children from a mathematical school. The famous athlete herself came up with training programs and exercises.

Irina recalls that one of her students fell in love with physical education classes and was so keen on modern pentathlon that she came to this sport. Subsequently, the girl became the world champion to the surprise of all her relatives.

A family

Irina Kiseleva was married to the master of sports in modern pentathlon Sergei Biryukov. On April 29, 1992, Irina and Sergey had a son, Mikhail.

After the birth of the child, the athlete had a goal - to instill in his son a love of sports. Since the woman herself was very painful in her childhood, she wanted to protect her child from this. And at the same time, to return to the previous athletic form, lost due to pregnancy.

To instill a love of sport for her son Mikhail, Irina began with proper nutrition, massages and gymnastics. Good health and a parental example led to the fact that Michael independently came to the sport. Mikhail Biryukov became the best junior in Russia in tennis. According to Irina, the son simply took a racket, came to his parents and told them that he wanted to become a tennis player.

Irina Kiseleva advises all parents who want to bring their children to the big sport to follow her example - to strengthen the health of their children.

At the moment, Irina Kiseleva is the main methodologist and trainer at the children's sports club Smile & Co. The main goal of her activities and the activities of the entire club, the honored athlete considers the physical development of children.
