Skiing is a popular winter activity, especially in northern countries. In such regions, almost everyone is skiing. This sport is accessible to all who have a desire to do it.
It is not necessary to strive for great heights and fit into the standards for ski racing in competitions, you can just keep in good shape. Moderate skiing at low temperatures allows the body to resist various diseases. It is enough to buy skis and periodically take walks on them.
I would like to briefly touch on the history of the emergence of this sports equipment. In the distant past, the use of skis was an ordinary process. They greatly facilitated movement on the snow cover. Our ancestors went to hunt them. The first skis were stepping, only after that sliding ones appeared. Gradually, this lesson grew into a competition, like most sports.
Over the past 20-30 years, ski discipline has developed rapidly. Competitions became more interesting and spectacular. In addition, it is worth noting that they began to be divided into various independent species. The classification of skiing today is as follows: cross-country skiing, ski jumping, biathlon, skiing and biathlon. Each of these species has its own competition rules. All of them are included in the Olympic program.
There are standards for cross-country skiing, based on which, any athlete receives a discharge. Already at a young age, a novice athlete can prove himself on the good side by fulfilling the required norms and conditions. Cross-country skiing standards are divided primarily by the styles of movement: classic and free. And also it all depends on the distance. For example, take a 5km track. To get the first discharge, you need to go through her free style in 15 minutes. 5.4 sec for men and for 17 minutes. 3.4 sec to women.
In ski racing today there are several disciplines: separate start competitions, mass start, relay races, pursuit races, individual and team sprints. All of them differ in the nature of the conduct and, naturally, in the length of the track. Each athlete, taking part in a particular race, is good in his own way. If he does not manage to show himself in a separate start, then this does not mean that he will not master an individual sprint.
In all existing championships and cup competitions, the participants are not faced with the task of meeting the standards for skiing. Here, one goal is to show the maximum result that can lead to victory.
Each sports discipline has its own leaders, and everyone knows this.
Ski champions are no exception. For the entire duration of the competition, so many people have added their names to sports history that it is very difficult to count them.
Most of all I would like to recall exactly the Russian skiers who glorified their country. The very first champion of Russia was Pavel Bychkov, who won the 30-verst race at the Khodynsky field in 1910. And, most interestingly, he was not a professional athlete, but an ordinary janitor. Over the course of a century, our athletes have always been pleased with their victories. Alevtina Kolchina, Vladimir Kuzin, Lyubov Kozyreva, Galina Kulakova, Radya Eroshina, Klavdiya Boyarsky, Lyubov Egorova, Larisa Lazutina - these are only some of the names that have repeatedly pleased their fans. They forever inscribed their sports personality in a story that cannot be changed. Time passes, and we are sure that every year this list will be replenished with new heroes.
