In the seventies of the last century, the defense industry of the USSR began to develop and create small-sized automatic small arms. The overall process is codenamed “Bouquet”. Mostly, the models should have occupied a niche between the Makarov and the ACSU used in the divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The most practical project was the Kedr software, the name of which comes not only from the name of the tree, but also combines the initials of the main developer (design by Eugene Dragunov). Consider the characteristics and features of this weapon.
Production
The production and improvement of the model in question were carried out at the Izhevsk Combine, which produced more than half of all domestic weapons. It is worth noting that the experimental batches of the Kedr software came out in total of forty copies. The modification was tested, recognized and adopted. Further serial production was carried out by the Zlatoust Mechanical Plant.
This model uses cartridges characteristic of the Makarov pistol, caliber 9 x 18 millimeters. The weapon is used in units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Penitentiary Service, departmental security and other public services.
Operational Features
PP "Cedar" can shoot in single bursts or bursts of 2-3 charges. The average rate of fire of the weapon is about 45 rounds per minute. The reclining butt of metal allows you to increase accuracy when it rests on the shoulder.
The sight sight is adjustable, can aggregate with the diopter and standard as a whole. This allows you to accelerate and improve targeting. The automatic pistol is equipped with two types of clips designed for 20 or 30 bullets. The gun is designed for a fifty-meter range, the optimal indicator is 25 m. It is worth noting that the slaughter of the weapon makes it possible to hit the growth target at a control distance with one shot.
Device
PP "Cedar" (the drawing is hard to find in the public domain) consists of a receiver, cover, aiming elements, handle and folding butt. The filling includes a return and trigger system, as well as a trigger and an adjustable fuse. The weapon can be additionally equipped with silent firing devices, flame arresters and silencers. Mounting these devices allows an expansion chamber with a special mesh roll and a barrel adapted for various removable nozzles.
The standard equipment of the gun consists of the gun itself, two magazines, an adjustment key, a wipe, a drift, a transport case, a nipple and a passport.
Auto mode
The burst function is based on the release of the free shutter. There is a handle on the left of the case, which helps speed up recharging. The fuse of the flag type is placed above the trigger guard, designed to set the mode of single or automatic firing. To shoot from the Kedr software, just select the desired mode, release and release the bolt, after which the weapon is ready for use by pulling the trigger. The fuse also prevents accidental operation of the mechanism.
In the automatic mode, firing from the weapon in question will be conducted until the trigger returns to its original position or the cartridges run out in the clip. With a single fire, the trigger must be pressed repeatedly after the release of each charge. The basic gun configurations have two main configurations: the standard version and the version with built-in silencer.
PP "Cedar": TTX
The main parts of the submachine gun we named, now as for the performance characteristics. The weapon has the following characteristics:
- caliber and used cartridge - 9 mm / 9 x 18 PM;
- clip capacity - 20/30 charges;
- the mass of the pistol without bullets is 1.54 kilograms;
- the length of the entire gun with an active butt / barrel length - 539/120 mm;
- maximum rate of fire - up to 850 rounds per minute with a standard rate of up to 100 starts;
- the starting speed of the bullet is 310 meters per second;
- the optimal distance of warfare is 25 meters.
Service
Domestic PP "Cedar", the photo of which is presented below, requires appropriate care. Weapons can be partially dismantled (for lubrication and cleaning) or completely disassembled (in case of heavy contamination or the need for repair).
When disassembling weapons, certain rules should be followed, namely:
- carefully study the procedure for manipulating and features of the gun itself;
- perform the process on a table or clean litter;
- to lay details carefully, not allowing their falling and possible deformation;
- assembly according to the numbering of elements in a mirror order relative to disassembly.
Incomplete disassembly is done by separating the clip after squeezing the latch and removing the magazine. Then check the presence of charge in the chamber, after which the butt is transferred to the combat position.
The further process consists in removing the receiver cover, separating the return unit, dismantling the shutter by moving it back and up. The final stage consists in disassembling the transfer fuse (turning clockwise) and separating the trigger mechanism.
Prevention
For complete disassembly, you must remove the entire trigger mechanism, shutter and magazine niche. The device "Cedar" involves the implementation of regular preventive care. It includes lubrication and cleaning of weapons. The device is treated with lubricants 2-3 times a month. And cleaning is done after any type of use (training firing, official use, and the like). Only dry and pre-cleaned weapons need to be lubricated.
The work is carried out in several stages:
- Required materials and tools are prepared.
- Weapons are being disassembled.
- The barrel is being cleaned.
- The receiver, sights, grip and butt are cleared.
- The trigger and impact mechanisms, as well as the shutter with a return spring, are processed.
- Shops are being cleaned.
Immediately after these procedures, lubrication begins with the use of special weapons. After assembly, the gun should be inspected and the functionality of all moving elements checked.
Advantages and disadvantages
TTX software "Cedar" determine a number of advantages of this weapon over analogues. The advantages of the device include the following aspects:
- Light weight and compact dimensions, allowing you to disguise weapons in wardrobe items.
- Equipped with a special shutter lag, which allows signaling the need to change the clip after emptying the store.
- High accuracy and accuracy when firing from an estimated distance.
- The unit can be equipped with a laser sight or tactical flashlight.
The submachine under consideration is ready for use for its intended purpose after the charge has been sent to the chamber. The bolt handle is located on the left, and a convenient handle allows you to fire while holding the weapon in one hand. In addition, the gun is easy to maintain and operate, has good balance.
Among the minuses, a not very convenient application of the butt pad of the butt to the shooter's shoulder, as well as weak muzzle energy of 295 Joules were noted. In this regard, sometimes the user can get burned on the barrel, since the latter does not have a protective casing. With a small magazine capacity ammunition is consumed quite quickly, especially in automatic firing mode.
