In twelve episodes, director Igor Zaitsev managed to show only the beginning of the path of the great empress. It makes no sense to tell the plot, because everyone who studied at school should be well aware of the period of the reign of Catherine the Great.
The filming of the Mars Media studio took place in Peterhof, Pushkin and St. Petersburg. Rent of more than 200 objects, make-up and costumes - the budget of the series amounted to 283.6 million rubles. According to general producer Ruben Dishdishyan, this project was created in the spirit of the best historical films “Borgia” and “The Tudors”. A filming day in the palace interiors cost 250 thousand rubles.
History or fiction?
Of course, the audience who watched Channel One paid attention to the inaccuracies made by the scriptwriters. Series 2015, a list of which you now know, for the most part have nothing to compare with. However, we all studied history and understand that some historical facts, despite the scriptwriters using the empress’s diaries and other archival documents, were distorted.
For example, in the series, already in the third series, Catherine’s accent disappears, although historians say that the empress spoke with an accent all her life. Attentive viewers noticed zippers on the dresses of the court ladies, which appeared only in 1891.
The list of blunders can go on, but better pay attention to the stellar composition. The main role was played by the wonderful actress Julia Snigir. Pavel Derevyanko turned out to be organic in the role of Peter Fedorovich, and Natalya Surkova perfectly coped with the image of Empress Elizabeth.

If not for the cast, then critics and spectators would not even pay attention to the soap opera, which was shown by Channel One. The series “Women in Love” was presented by charming Ekaterina Klimova, Ravshana Kurkova, Daria Ekamasova and Ekaterina Volkova.
Another plus is a beautiful, but completely implausible picture. The main characters have spacious apartments, cars, and they look like they just left a chic beauty salon.
