A white ticket is the dream of almost every modern guy between the ages of 18 and 27, because even children have heard rumors of unrest in the army today. And even if you manage to ignore the summons to the draft board for 9 years, your peace of mind is still at risk. According to the law, if the fact of evading military service becomes clear when you are older than military age, then you will still face criminal punishment and an administrative fine.

Nevertheless, there are categories of citizens who, for one reason or another, are entitled to exemption from the army. These, in particular, include persons with certain health problems or young people with higher education who work in state enterprises, or the children of people who died during military service. After passing the medical board, the conscript can just get a white ticket and from that day “sleep relatively quietly” until he obtains a visa or driver’s license, although it all depends on the reason for his inability to serve.
Is he white?
The expression “white ticket” is colloquial, and the color of this document is actually red. There are two main versions of the origin of this expression. According to the first, a ticket of this color was really issued in pre-revolutionary Russia to recruits who could not fulfill their duty to their homeland due to health reasons. According to another version, he was nicknamed “white” in Soviet times due to the fact that he actually remained empty, and the columns dedicated to the duty station were not filled.
Service eligibility categories
Today, after passing the medical examination, the conscript is assigned one of five categories of validity:
- “A” is suitable without any restrictions for military service and is subject to compulsory military service.
- "B" - suitable with minor restrictions (can only serve in certain types of troops).
- "B" - not subject to draft in peacetime.
- “G” is temporarily unsuitable, the period is determined depending on the severity of the disease, and after the expiration of the delay, he must undergo a second medical examination.
- "D" - not suitable for service in peacetime or in wartime.
As you already understood, the categories “B”, “G” and “D” are white. For such conscripts, “evasion” of the army is mandatory by law.
What are the "white-ticketers" risking?
It should be remembered that for the illegal receipt of a white ticket a person is criminally liable under article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, as is the recipient of a bribe. In the best case, a fine will be imposed on him, which is 15-90 times the size of his bribe, and in the worst case, he will be imprisoned for 2-12 years and forced to pay a fine of 10-70-fold. And the official who received the bribe can “split up” at any moment.
In addition, a white ticket does not allow you to work in government work. Sometimes those who are exempted from service cannot get a driver’s license, a visa to some countries and the right to bear arms (including for hunting). Since 2003, the white ticket also began to be associated with HIV-infected, drug addicts and homosexuals. But when giving a bribe, you have no guarantee that such an article will not be written in your "release". Therefore, think carefully, do you really need such a "brand" for life.
