The iconic trilogy "The Matrix" not only prompted the public to think about the hopelessness of the future dystopias, but also presented the world with unforgettable images of protagonists and antagonists, who took not the last place in the galaxy of memorable movie characters. Among them, Matrix agents are special programs that control the system and are designed to eliminate unauthorized connections.

All agents of the Matrix are endowed with reaction, power, speed and strength that are many times greater than human ones. They easily capture the projection of any layman in the Matrix, with the exception being disconnected from the system. Authorized persons, monitoring the reactions of those connected, in case of various deviations, can move into their bodies, choosing those whose mental projection is in close proximity to the scene. In their submission are the robots of the real world - Hunters, to whom they give orders.
Appearance
Externally, the agents of the Matrix differ from the general population. They are dressed in formal suits, a white shirt, and a black tie decorated with a shiny clip. Elegant black glasses complete the look. Of the required parts - an intercom earphone and a Desert Eagle .50 AE pistol. Facelessness is given to programs by their “surnames” taken from their list of the most common in the USA.
The appearance of the agents after the release of the picture immediately became a subject of heated debate. Some critics did not understand why agents stand out from the crowd. Viewers noted that it was much more logical to make them similar to most inconspicuous inhabitants. Or even invisibles, taking advantage of the benefits of stealth and surprise. Then Neo and the Companions would have to be really tight.
Standalone modules
Among others, stand-alone module agents stand out clearly, initially protecting the Matrix - Smith, Brown, and Jones. They are presented to the viewer in the first film of the trilogy. The photo of Agent Smith from The Matrix confirms the use of MI-6 aesthetics. In addition to the similarity in appearance, he appears similar to James Bond. The phrase "Smith. Agent Smith ”was immediately noticed by Bond fans. Like Resistance fighters, agents are superusers of the system. Their advantage over the bulk is most likely determined by the fact that they are authorized users. Not a single film from the trilogy explains the nature of this special access.
Agent Smith’s assistants are Agent Browns, played in the original tape by Paul Goddard and Agent Jones. The "Matrix" for actor Robert Taylor, embodied in Jones, became a springboard on the road to success, after the premiere he was approved for the main role in the crime series "Longmire".
Merciless misanthrope or real chosen one?
In cinema, Smith is the main enemy of human heroes from the agents of the Matrix. A personified, intelligent program is ruthless to those who threaten the existence of a virtual world. For Smith, this is a matter of survival, so he takes his responsibilities very seriously. His character is misanthropic.
The authors of the project proposed to embody such a significant image of Jean Reno, but the French artist chose to take part in the filming of Godzilla. As a result, the role was approved by Hugo Weaving, who after the trilogy shone in The Lord of the Rings.

Agent Johnson (Daniel Bernhard), who is positioned as the leader of the new troika of modernized agents, also migrated from the first part to the second “Matrix: Reloaded”. This group also includes Jackson (David Kild) and Thompson (Matt McColm). Gemini directly cooperates with them, who can be regarded as agents of Merovingen. They were played by the brothers Adrian and Neil Ratings. These programs differ in appearance, are dressed in white suits, cloaks, and dreadlocks.
