Ataman (pistol): review, specifications and reviews

“Ataman M1” is a 4.5 mm air gun that hit the market in 2014. It is produced at the facilities of the Tula company "A + A". This gun was an update to the previous version, which had the index "M". Since the Ataman M pistol is already morally obsolete, today we’ll talk about the M1 model.

Gun features

In appearance, “Ataman” resembles the legendary Italian “Beretta 92”. It is a unique product in the world of pneumatics. The thing is that the gun combines PCP and CO 2 types. Above the working barrel is a sealed tank with a volume of 60 cm 3 , which is filled with any harmless gas. This can be done using a fire extinguisher, compressor or pump. But it’s much simpler to simply insert two familiar 12 gram CO2 bottles into the tank. They will be enough to shoot the entire charge of bullets. You can refuel one full cylinder and one empty.

Another major feature is that the cylinder charging system does not have gaskets, which means you don’t need to worry that air is bleed due to its wear. The system is completely tight, so you can safely charge the gun in advance. This is really great, because, as you know, most of these weapons are charged immediately before firing. According to the manufacturer, the Ataman M1 pistol can hold air pressure and be charged up to six months.

Characteristics of the Ataman pistol

The gun is made of durable black plastic (body) and steel (internal parts). When fully charged, the device weighs only 0.56 kg. And if you remove the cans and bullets from it, the weight will be 0.48 kg. A long smooth barrel (17.8 cm) provides pretty good accuracy. On the shutter (which is stationary in the model) a standard front sight and rear sight are installed. The weaver strap installed under the barrel allows you to equip the gun with a laser pointer or a flashlight.

The store has a cylindrical shape and is located in the handle. It consists of 8 longitudinal compartments, each of which contains 15 bullets. In total, the charge is 120 steel balls of caliber 4.5. Two gas cylinders are more than enough to shoot the entire store.

If you fill the gun directly with compressed air, the charge is enough for about 35 shots. It occurs after the barrel rolls on a special valve. The moving barrel system allows the pool to develop a very good take-off speed - 125-130 m / s according to the manufacturer, and 133-147 m / s in practice. Muzzle energy is about 3 J.

The trigger mechanism works only in self-reset mode. The descent is very easy and smooth. The gun has no automatic fuse.

Pistol "Ataman M1"

The gun is sold in a cardboard box with camouflage colors, which also includes:

  1. Passport for the product.
  2. Double-sided nut designed to puncture cylinders.
  3. Sealing ring. It is put on a stopper of a container for cylinders / gas. It serves a very long time, as it does not receive pressure.
  4. A device called the "Signal of the Hunter." A kind of bonus and a very useful thing.

At the moment, the Ataman M1 air gun is available in two versions, which differ in price by about 500 rubles. The cheaper option only works on gas cans. It does not have fittings for refueling. The Ataman PCP gun also has a nozzle and a filling valve in the kit. It can be recognized by the inscription on the box "Ataman - M1U".

The scheme of operation of the Ataman pistol

The gun is simple and easy to use. Now we will be convinced of this. Before you start shooting, you need to raise the fuse. When you press the trigger, the sear presses on the weighting compound and the spring is compressed. It moves the barrel, as a result of which it captures the ball located in the receiving sleeve, cutting it off from the rest of the charge.

And only when the barrel is put on the tube-rod, does the valve open. Thus, gas leakage is absolutely excluded. The trunk is removed from the sear. The spring strikes him against the valve, which releases a portion of gas, which accelerates the metal ball.

Gun loading

To charge the Ataman with gas cylinders, you need to unscrew the cork located above the working barrel and send the cylinders into the hole. In this case, the first cylinder lays down by soldering up. Then, a puncture nut and a second balloon are lowered into the hole, respectively, by soldering down.

It is noteworthy that after the cork is completely tightened, the cylinders do not pierce. This is another significant plus of the Ataman pistol. To pierce the cylinders, you need to rest the barrel on a hard surface and push. A small button mounted on the gas plug, drown, and everything will happen. In this case, you will not hear any sound.

Dismantling the Ataman pistol

The gun is disassembled in a slightly unusual way, since it does not have a movable shutter. First you need to raise the fuse. To disconnect the air unit from the frame, you need to knock out the pin and apply a little force. The rest is simple. First, unscrew the trunk. To make it easier, hold the weight in a vise. After unscrewing the barrel, it, together with the spring and other parts, literally fall out. The main thing at this stage is nothing to lose.

Now with the help of pliers you need to pull out the metal plate, which goes towards the handle. It is necessary to act perpendicular to the axis of the pneumatic unit. In case the valve does not give in, it is worth slightly pulling the plastic sleeve out of the muzzle end (it takes the balls). The screw located at the back of the pneumatic unit is not needed to unscrew. It remains only to disassemble the valve. This is not at all difficult.

Assembly, as expected, is performed in the reverse order. Having performed the procedure several times, you will notice that it became easier to disassemble the gun. The point is not only that you have gained experience, but also that the details have gotten used to.

As you can see, the assembly is not complicated, but very problematic. Therefore, do not unnecessarily carry it out. When assembling a gun, or rather a valve, pay special attention to laying a rubber seal that seals the front of the valve. It is located in front of the plastic sleeve.

Gun PCP "Ataman"

Application

This model is used for training and sport shooting. Hardball lovers (a game in which one team fights against another) and a heel (entertaining shooting at bottles and cans) often prefer it.

For self-defense, this gun is not suitable, due to its low weight and weak shot. Nevertheless, it is still possible to stop a person with his help. And the fact that the gun can be stored charged and it does not bleed air (like most pneumatics) makes it more suitable for self-defense.

Repair and tuning

When the Ataman airgun fires several thousand shots, the accuracy of fire may decrease. The reason is that plastic develops over time, as a result of which the gap between the barrel and the body becomes too large.

The fix is simple. First you need to buy a cheap RG6 cable. It has a crimp cylinder included. This detail is useful to us. It is necessary to cut the cylinder with scissors, push it to the width of the barrel and put on it with the cut up. It is also recommended to pre-grind the cylinder from the inside so that the speed of the shot does not decrease. This simple manipulation allows you to increase not only accuracy, but also the life of the gun.

To increase power, some owners put the springs harder, and also bore the valve and chamber. And also, those who have a model that works exclusively on cylinders have figured out how to adapt the gun to pump with other gases. To do this, in the center of the cork, you just need to drill a hole and insert a valve into it from the car wheel.

Ataman pistol: reviews

Ataman pistol: reviews

Based on the reviews, we highlight the advantages and disadvantages of the model.

So, the advantages:

  1. Accuracy and ease of shooting.
  2. Self-cocking and soft descent.
  3. The impressive capacity of the store.
  4. Ability to refuel in various ways.
  5. A seal that holds pressure in the gas chamber for a long time.

Well, the shortcomings, where without them:

  1. Spray cans need to be pierced with a sharp movement. Otherwise, one of them may remain intact. Therefore, it is better to puncture a hard surface.
  2. The design does not allow the use of refillable cans.
  3. When refueling balls in the compartments of the store, the slider must be constantly kept. There is no latch, and if you lower the slider, the balls will fly apart.
  4. The gun is picky about the balls. If you charge low-quality or already used balls, the mechanism may jam.

Conclusion

So we met with the Ataman M1 pistol. This is a wonderful model, which takes into account many shortcomings of other pneumatic guns. It is perfect for training and developing weapons skills. The price of the product varies in the aisles of 5000 rubles.
