It remains a mystery why the creators of the comics chose the name Leo for the turtle in the blue bandana. This hero does not shine in the sciences, rather, he is closer to the image of a good leader and a fearless warrior.
Weapons of Leonardo (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
Leo always uses two katanas or ninjatos in battle. Wherever you see a photo of Leonardo's ninja turtle, he will definitely hold them in his hands.
Katana is a long Japanese sword that is usually held with two hands. But Leonardo in control manages two katanas at once, holding one sword in each hand. Katan swords are slightly curved and have a one-sided blade.
Leo also uses ninja in battle - special swords from the ninja arsenal. They are short and have a straight blade.
History of creation
Without the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turt Leonardo is difficult to imagine the whole heroic team. He is the link between the three brothers, organizes them. The only one Leo doesn't get along with is Raphael.
Ninja Turtles comics were created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman in the 80s. Initially, they wanted to call the turtle with katanas Donatello. But then Laird developed the hero in a purple bandage with a fighting stick, and it was decided to name the turtle with two swords Leonardo.
In the first episodes of the Mirage Studios comics, Leo is responsible for the ninja team before the master Splinter, but when the teacher is not around, Raphael takes the lead. A little later, Leonardo nevertheless, with his determination and concentration, proves that he is better able to lead than the hot-tempered Raphael.
In the 90s, the right to publish hand-drawn stories with mutant turtles was bought by Image Comics. In the editions of this magazine, Leo becomes more violent in battle and tougher in decision making. But he still remains a priority in matters of leadership, justice and strategy.
Character character
A peculiar character manifests itself in each ninja turtle. Leonardo is the most calm and balanced of the whole team. It’s difficult to get mad, to make him nervous. Leo always makes decisions quickly and confidently. He is especially good at developing battle strategies and tactics.
Among other things, Leo is well-mannered. He maintains communication and understanding between Sensei Splinter and other mutants. Leo prefers to spend his free time not looking at comics, like Mikey, but at training. Sometimes Leo even meditates.
Like any leader, a turtle in a blue armband has a heightened sense of justice and responsibility. When something goes wrong or something happens to the brothers, Leonardo always blames only himself.
After the release of the cartoon in 2003, Leo began to paint with a chipped carapace, because in one of the battles he severely damaged it. Sometimes Leonardo conflicts strongly with Raf because of the latter’s aggressive working methods.
Screen appearances
In 1987, the ninja turtles first appeared on television. Leonardo in the animated film of the late 80s is represented by an impeccable leader who requires other turtles daily long trainings. This is because Leo is simply fixated on the destruction of Shredder. He understands that for this all the team members will have to give their best.
Also, something happens in the cartoon in Leo's personal life: in one of the series, he meets a mutant girl named Lotus, and they begin a romance.
In the animated film of 2003, Leo appears before the viewer very silent and secretive. He meditates for hours in seclusion, but what remains unchanged is the desire to destroy Shredder, and preferably forever. In the series there is such a moment when an alternative reality is shown. In this reality, Leo dies during a fight with Shredder.
In 2014, Paramount Pictures filmed the latest version of the story of mutant turtles. In this film adaptation, Leo played Pete Plazhek. He still remains a fearless leader, but in the frame there is a lot more clashes between Raf and his brother in a blue blindfold.
The picture aroused great interest among the public: at the box office, the tape raised almost $ 500 million. In this film, unlike previous versions, computer special effects are widely used. The scandalous Megan Fox was invited to the role of April O'Neill.
Recently, the release of the following picture about the adventures of the mutants was announced: its premiere will be held in 2016. It is still known that the plot of the new film will closely overlap with the plot of the animated series of the 87th year. The cast will remain the same. Only the avenger character Casey Jones will be added.
