A wide range of fishing lures for a predator does not bother the fishermen at all, for years accustomed to craft them with their own hands. To convince them that the purchased baubles are much better than homemade is almost impossible. But they are somewhat right. Firstly, a good bait, especially if it is branded, is not cheap, secondly, you cannot always buy a suitable spinner, and thirdly, making spinners is not such a difficult task.
Let’s try to understand these master anglers and make some winter lures for perch fishing on our own. Let's start with the simplest homemade products that do not require soldering and metalworking. Photos of home-made spinners, simple in production and enjoying popularity, are presented below.
Pilker from a spoon
Pilker is a heavy, uniform narrow lure made of stainless steel, copper, brass, nickel silver and other metals that are not very resistant to corrosion. It is used for winter vertical blinding of large perch and pike perch.
In order to make the simplest pilker, we need:
- ordinary dessert spoon made of stainless steel or cupronickel;
- hacksaw for metal;
- file;
- drill;
- sandpaper;
- a pair of clockwork rings;
- triple hook.
First you need to determine the size of the future baubles. If you plan a trip to a large perch, the length of the pilker should be 4-7 cm. Having cut off the workpiece of the required size with a hacksaw, straighten it with a file and sand it with fine sandpaper. Next, you need to drill holes along the edges of the workpiece.
On the one hand, where the workpiece is wider, we fix a tee of the desired size through the winding ring. Everything, the pilker is ready. Such home-made winter
baubles on perch work well at medium depths (3-5 m) in bodies of water with a moderate course.
Tweezers
A similar bait can be made from ordinary tweezers, which are usually used by electronic engineers and radio enthusiasts in their work. Using a hacksaw, you need to cut a workpiece 3-5 cm long from one part of the tweezers so that it consists of 2/3 of the smooth part and 1/3 of the corrugated one. Next, we correct the file, grind with sandpaper and drill holes on the hook and leash. You can also paint the bait in the desired color using the most ordinary nail polish. Small homemade winter tweezers from tweezers are great for fishing "sailor" at shallow depths.
The simplest lightweight tin can
This bait is often used by lovers of perch fishing in the wilderness. On her example, you can independently verify that homemade catchy baubles can even be made from what is lying under your feet. For this we need:
- tin can (from beer, coffee, canned goods, etc.);
- scissors for metal;
- a pair of clockwork rings;
- double or tee size No. 7-8;
- awl;
- sandpaper.
On plain paper, make an oval pattern with a length of 40 and a width of 20 mm. Cut the can and straighten it. Having applied the finished piece to the metal, with the help of an awl we transfer its contours. Cut the workpiece. At the edges of the spinners with an awl, we make holes for the clockwork rings and carefully grind everything, getting rid of paint, bumps and burrs.
Next, the future spinner is worth bending. This can be done by attaching the workpiece to a conventional rolling pin. After that we fasten the clockwork rings and hook.
Keeping such homemade winter baubles on perch, given the thickness of the metal from which they are made, should be separate from other baits, otherwise they will simply lose their shape and become unusable.
Spinner
The catching bait for ice fishing of a striped predator can be made from a regular tube made of copper or stainless steel with a diameter of 5-10 mm. It is enough to measure a segment of 30-50 mm, cut diagonally on both sides, carefully grind and polish it to a shine. Next, you need to drill holes for the clockwork rings, wind them and fasten the hook.
Similar home-made winter spinners for perch are often used when fishing in shallow areas with a moderate course.
Editing Spinners
Naturally, the described perch bait, made with one's own hand, cannot be compared as a game with branded ones. An approximate drawing, an uneven cut and inaccurate weight in any case will adversely affect the behavior of the spinners in the water. But still, before going fishing, the bait should be tested and, if necessary, corrected.
This can be done right in the bathroom, filled with water, and even without a fishing rod. The spinner needs to be tied to the fishing line and lowered to the bottom. Next, you should make a sharp swing, so that the bait rises by 30 centimeters, and observe how it will behave, dropping. If the spinner falls to the bottom strictly vertically, without making any movements around the axis, it means that it is configured incorrectly. Such baits are corrected by bending both horizontally and vertically, as well as by changing the weight of the load.
Spinner "dovetail"
Now let's move on to more complex structures involving work with metal and soldering. Any home-made lures for fishing for a predator having a pronounced game are performed according to clearly defined drawings. Dovetail is no exception.
From materials and tools we will need:
- copper sheet 90x30x0.5 mm;
- scissors for metal;
- soldering iron;
- solder;
- awl;
- soldering acid;
- copper wire with a cross section of 0.6 mm;
- single hook No. 4-6;
- file;
- sandpaper.
Before you make a spoon, you need to decide on its size. For a humpback, its dyne is usually 90 mm and its width is 15 mm.
On a copper sheet we mark a V-shaped blank 90 mm long and 30 mm wide with a tail cut of 25 mm. Cut it along the contour with scissors. After pre-treating one of the surfaces with soldering acid, a thin layer of solder is applied to it with a soldering iron.
Using an awl, we draw a longitudinal center line and bend the workpiece in half. Next, we bring the tail plates together so that we get a semblance of a boat. After that, we solder them to each other from the inside.
From a copper wire we make a loop which will be used for fastening to a fishing line or a leash. Its maximum diameter should not exceed 3-4 mm. Solder it to the head (narrow) part of the workpiece. After that we process the hook with acid and fix it in the tail of the bait in the same way. When all this is done, fill in the solder the entire inner surface of the workpiece.
Now it is the turn of the file and sandpaper. All influxes, grooves and burrs must be aligned, and the bauble itself is polished and polished to a shine.
Usually, such home-made winter baubles for perch are used for fishing in the water column. For greater depth, the soldered single hook should be replaced with a movable tee of the same size.
Spinner "torpedo"
Another simple lesson is how to make a spinner for perch at home from the same materials. On paper, we make a pattern in the form of an elongated drop 30-50 mm long. The width of the workpiece in the upper part should be 10 mm, in the lower - 3-5 mm.
Transfer the drawing from paper to sheet metal and make 2 identical blanks. Next, with the help of a rounded striker and thick rubber, we make them convex over the entire area. The inner surface of both halves is treated with acid and coated with a thin layer of solder. We make 2 loops of wire and solder them to the ends of one of the blanks. Next, we fold both halves with convex sides outward and connect them together, passing a soldering iron along the edges. As a result, we should get a semblance of a long drop. After this, the bait is cleaned and polished to a shine.
Homemade “castmaster”
Probably even the most uninitiated fisherman knows about the catchability of the “kastmester” - the legendary spinner for vertical fishing from the Akme company. But few people realize that it is easy to make such a bait from a fragment of an ordinary copper tube with a diameter of 6-8 mm. The larger the cross section, the longer and harder the spinner will turn out. In addition to the tube you will need:
- school protractor;
- hacksaw for metal;
- soldering iron;
- soldering acid;
- solder;
- file;
- sandpaper;
- drill with a thin drill;
- winding rings;
- double or triple hook number 7-8.
Having attached the protractor to a certain point on the tube, we designate and draw the first line that goes to the right at an angle of 17 degrees. Further, moving the protractor to the left by 2-3 mm, we draw the second line at an angle of 23 degrees.
Carefully cut a tube with a hacksaw for metal according to the intended drawing. As a result, we should get a kind of elongated oblique washer. The workpiece is treated with soldering acid from the inside, we fill the inner space of the washer with solder. After that, we clean and grind the lure. The holes for the winding rings are drilled at a distance of 2-3 mm from the edge of the bait.
Homemade winter baiters of the “castmaster” type, weighing 1.5-5 g, are used by anglers for fishing on the “sailor” at shallow depths. Similar bait can be used for larger fish: humpback, zander, pike. The process of their manufacture is similar to that described, only the diameter of the tube per large predator, respectively, should be larger (from 10 to 25 mm).
