"Scam" - until recently, a word meaningless for the Russian ear, which in recent years has become almost a phenomenon in the world of TV shows. "Scam" is a project that attracted attention not only with believable and vital situations, but also with an unusual format. Scam is a story that touches the hearts of millions of fans around the world.
"Scam" began in Norway, but unexpectedly for its creators gained incredible success in many other countries. Someone even started shooting his own version of the favorite series. Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands ... The American version of "Scam" (SKAM Austin) was released in 2018: the first small video appeared on the network on April 24. It was then that the story of American teens from Austin, Texas, began.
Skam is a Norwegian word (translated as “shame”), but quite often remake creators and fans prefer to leave it without a translation, preserving this invisible connection with their older Norwegian brother. In Norway, by the way, the series was launched in 2015 using the Facebook Watch video platform. The creators of the American remake of Scam did exactly the same. The principle is simple: small videos are laid out on the video service in real time throughout the week, and then, at the end of the week, they make up a full 20-minute series.
The first full episode of Scam Austin was released on April 27, 2018.
Plot
The plot of the first season of the American TV series “Shame” is built around sophomore Megan and her classmates, and the action takes place in Boldin High School.
Each series touches on various problems in the lives of adolescents, the trials through which they have to go, as well as issues of friendship, love, revenge, self-knowledge and self-acceptance. The actors of the American "Scam", just like the scriptwriters, had the difficult task of not only creating their own vision of the story on the basis of the existing one, but also reliably and truthfully show the life and problems of ordinary American teenagers.
Actors of the series "Scam. Austin"
Most of the actors of the American "Scam" were found in the town of Austin, where, in the story, the series takes place.
The first season focuses on the story of Megan Flores (Eva in the Norwegian version) performed by Julia Rocha. Megan is a lonely girl who used to be friends with Abigail Hayward, captain of the Kittens dance team. Their friendship was destroyed when Megan began to see Abigail's ex-boyfriend, Marlon, more and more. Also, after a quarrel, Meg joined another dance group created by a girl named Casey.
Till Simon got the role of Marlon Fraser (Yunas in the Norwegian Scam). Marlon is an aspiring musician. He is Megan's current boyfriend and Abby's ex-boyfriend, and he is also Shay and Tyler's best friend.
Kennedy played the role of Grace Olsen (Nura), a new girl who moved from Dallas. Grace is friends with Megan after Abby scoffed at her. This heroine is mature and candid, often the voice of reason among the girls in the dance team.
Austin got the role of Daniel Williamson (American version of William), the most popular high school football player Baldwin.
Shelby played a character named Kelsey Russell (in the original "Scam" - Wilde). Kelsey is a clumsy and slightly insecure girl. However, it is she who creates her own dance team after it was rejected by Kittens.
Aalaya appears in the series as Zoe Ali, a slightly insane Muslim (Sana from the Norwegian series). Zoe in the story is also a member of the Kelsey dance team.
Valeria became the embodiment of Chris from the Norwegian version, whose name is Josephine Valencia here. Josephine is a brave and eccentric girl and is Kelsey's best friend.
Pedro got the role of Jordan Diaz (Chris Penetrator), football player and best friend Daniel. He is interested in Megan, but it soon turns out that he already has a girl named Cleo.
This actor plays Tyler Nunez (Isak from the original Scam), Marlon's best friend.
Sophia played the role of Abigail Hayward (American version of Ingrid). Abby is Megan's former best friend and captain of the Kittens dance team. She is also an ex-girlfriend of Marlon.
La' Quiche got a completely new character, which was not in the Norwegian “Scam”. Her character is Shay Dixon. Shay is Marlon's closest friend, and also acts as Megan's trustee.
By the way, in the same way as in the original version, the actors of the American "Scam" have to maintain the pages of their characters on social networks. They not only post photos on the Instagram network, but also correspond with each other on behalf of their characters. The creators post screenshots of such correspondence on their official Facebook page.
Showrunner of the series
When it was announced in 2016 that the American production company XIX Entertainment had acquired the rights to withdraw its own version of the series “Shame,” of course, one of the first to raise the question of who would stand at the helm. After much rumor and speculation, it was soon confirmed that the creator of the original series Julie Andem, who reported this good news for fans in her Instagram account, would soon be the showrunner and director.
“I do not want to entrust [work on American Scum] to anyone else. Of course, a different culture, a different language, and also where a large and diverse audience will be a challenge for me, but I promise that I will give up all my strength and put my whole soul [into this series]. "
Continuation of the series
On July 25, 2018, it was announced that after the successful first season, the series was extended to a second season. The audience will again see the already beloved characters of the American "Scam", the actors also confirmed that they would be happy to return to their roles.
